'69 Fury III Convertible Build Thread- Project IVY

The FCBO gang and I will be looking forward to seeing your beauty whenever you get to Carlisle!

:eek:ccasion14:

Thanks Bob, will be good to meet the FCBO crew.

Got more done today, didn't do any welding like I planned but I did save myself a few days of work by undoing all the harness and lines and cracking the trans and motor mounts loose, slowly getting ready to pull the motor and tranny.

I was surprised, a previous owner must of loved this car too, it has 4 nearly new Monroe shocks, fairly new Accel Ignition parts (Cap, Rotor, Super stock wires, Points & condensor, Coil), almost new Champion plugs, and the carb looks to have been rebuilt not long ago. The master also appears to be not that old, it's only rusty on the outside, I'll bench test it before I call it decent though.

And this is what I mentioned earlier about the Transmission case missing a chunk.

The recent ignition parts is a good sign that the engine was in good running condition, otherwise why install them...
I don't recommend taking a chance on the master cylinder.... Cheap & easy to replace concidering all else will be new.

Doing a awesome, (whoops), job Nick.

Also..... You may want to keep an eye open for another trans case to replace the broken one when you get into it. To bad about that.... It's probably the original trans.

x2.

You may be able to save that trans case. If the damage isn't to far back. (hard to see) Inspect it really well for cracks, square off the break with a saw. Some drag race guys remove a portion of the case at/near where your issue is, to gain access to the Torque conv. bolts when using a deep oil pan.

Thanks Will, I was thinking after looking at it that I'll just buy another master anyway.

As for the Trans, I have another that I rebuilt for the car.

I like his taste, the parts I was going to order were going to be Accel

Also picked up a few things today, 8 tracks go with my Collection, looking at getting a '70 Chrysler 300 AM/FM/8 track from a guy in the states. I also managed to get two decent mirrors and a cassette player for the Plymouth.

ahh, to be young again, I remember those days all too well.... I even had a "box" next to the car playing tunes

and I would have ran away from that car...
You really put most of us to shame.

< Sent from my tablet >

That's because no one told him it couldn't or shouldn't be done before he started.

I remember those days......... your a saint ,Nick

you're a saint Nick - that's funny right there

Being young is good, I bet we were listening to similar stuff if not some of the same.

I wanted a project, I found one, I bought it, I'm restoring it, then enjoying it.

I am who I am, once I start something I gotta finish it.

And away we go, More Disassembley today, also did a bit of welding, but only tacked up the last interior floor panel.

Got the Master, Wiring harness', and brake lines out. Gave the 318 a wipe down and inspected a few things more closely. Ignition I think may not be replaced for now, when I build the engine, it'll all be replaced, for now to get me through to the winter I'll just change the plugs and Ballast resistor.

Oh, forgot about this, Found these critters on top of a heating duct, mmmm the smell but have been great. Looks like another critter was living in a nest made of these critters, can hardly wait to open the heater box up.

Also started polishing my new Mirrors, the one on the right is cleaned and polished.

If the engine starts.......no need to change the balast resistor.

Then by all means replace it. I was just saying there was no need to buy one if the engine runs.

So time to kick my *** into high gear, I have until the first weekend of May to have the car ready for bodywork, So this means doing the following;

Strip all panels to bare metal
Finish off the trunk
finish off the rear frame work
Pull the engine, transmission and driveshaft
Have the F8 Dupont 4988 mixed
Get my crap from Eastwood

And Go..................
