'69 Fury III Convertible Build Thread- Project IVY

Uncle asked me if I wanted a set of his old magnetic lights, he said they didn't work, 10 minutes after I got home, I plugged them into my truck and got my multi-meter, a few cuts, some soldering and some tape, and now they work perfectly, I have left/right turn, brake, running lights and 4-way flashers.

I also was curious to how well the bumpers would polish up, a buddy of mine recommended Mothers metal polish, just happened that I had some, gave it a shot, I think they'll do.

...in addition to c body owner we also got us some type of movie star in the making,lol....

I was pleasantly surprised, a guy quoted me $1000 each bumper to replate them in Nickel Chrome, I will probably have to have my door handles done eventually, they are pretty bad.

Blocks built, was surprised at how sturdy they are, took them to work and put a Silverado 3500 dump truck's front end up on them, no cracking, nothing, held the weight no problem. Will get the car up on them at some point this week.

My Beagle/Hound approves

now I see why you were so interested in the blocks my car was on :happy3:

Nice job on the blocks I have thought many times to do this.

Thanks, Came down to necessity for me.

Started into the rear frame rails and inner trunk area today, to be honest, I expected worse (yes I just said that) I did however create my own problems when I removed the trunk floor, but I can repair what I did easily, also previous uneducated (as I'm referring to them) owners clearly had their grubby paws into this area too, If this was a 1 owner car with the same rot issues I'd have half the work.

So started cleaning stuff up, got the trunk jam cleaned and ready for new Seam sealer which I'll order next week. Also started cleaning the last of the swiss cheese.

My camera just started doing that date imprint thing, drives me nuts, trying to figure out how to get it off.

holy jeesus rust.... don't stop now! say,, whats the specs on those wood blocks? that looks pretty handy
Believe it or not , I've seen a lot more rust on vehicles that were licensed and on the road. Scary stuff.

The wood blocks are fairly simple, required materials;
1- 2"x10"x12"
3- 2"x3"x8"
3- 2"x4"x8"

and around 150 or so 2 1/2" Deck screws.

The over all length is 30", the over all height is 15", and the actual structure measures 24" long, 13" High and 10" Wide if I remember correctly.
...and how the hell did you get the car up there on them ?
Floor jack and lot of patience..................................and a change of pants...............
