'69 Fury III Convertible Build Thread- Project IVY

Simple, for what it costs to rebuild a 318 to stock specs, I can build the 340 for the same price, And it's still my #'s matching block.

Stan, you forget, I'm 17, I don't have grandkids to take to Dairy Queen.

Stopped in and hung out with my bodyman tonight, also did a bit of work on it, tomorrow the firewall goes in paint and the final coat of primer goes on the Rad support. Also got a photo of my partner in crime when I'm up there working, he likes the Plymouth.

Sounds like a plan and good to know I'm not the only 17 y/o around here.

So back to my beast, My engine isn't that bad actually, I pulled the valve covers to paint them, and I was pleasantly surprised by the condition when I opened it up, anyway, de-greased it and got it ready for paint, also picked up two cans of Chrysler Corp Blue (I know what your thinking, that's not enough to paint the whole engine, It is if your careful, I used 2 cans to do a 350 chevy I had at work for a customer), got the paint on the valve covers, looks better.

Looks you're on your way. I know that doing a lot of this on your own is time consuming, but imagine the cost savings. I'm restoring a 69 Plymouth Convertible as well. I have TWO complete rear seats. When I picked up the car the rear seats were missing. I owner thought he had lost the keys, so I was not able to look in the truck. I searched and found rear seats and snatched them up. Later I was clearing some of the old rag top away and noticed something in the trunk. I was able to pull the original rear seats from the back compartment. Later I found the keys in the glove compartment that appeared to be locked at first. Just a little more thumb pressure and it opened. So, if anyone is looking for a complete rear seat assembly for a 1969 Plymouth Fury III convertible, I have an extra set.

Hey SFMajor welcome to the board brother !!!! Head over to the welcome wagon and introduce yourself and if possible post some pictures of that convert!

How much is too much? Looks like it's got some mud in it and a cheap paint job
let me put it this way, he wants $3, 600 more than I paid for both of my cars, It's worse than my photo's reveal, Remember I was up close and gave it a Truly good look over using my Fury III Convertible eyes, It's been sitting a long time, longer than my car (7 years) by the looks of it, below are my notes so to say:

Interior:
Everything in the interior is EXTREMELY faded, it was a red interior, the wiring under the dash has the rats nest look, and the seats are all seam split, due to staining and the stench the top leaks like a mother, the rear seat speaker was missing as was the front seat belt covers.

Exterior:
Paint is old, chrome and stainless are decent but need polished badly, top is "iffy", Rust is everywhere, but semi hidden and not in the usual places, Tires are well Old, there dry cracked and have some sun rot, glass is good, lenses are good, it's pretty complete.

Driveline:
Original 318 is long gone, has a very clapped out 360, and 727, both are once again iffy, and they both have unknown mileage, I can tell you it's a 75 Truck block according to the ID pad, Everything is dirty (Fluids, filters), Brakes are 4 wheel power drums and are iffy also from sitting, when he told me what he wanted for it I quickly lost interest in a thorough inspection. The rear brake lines and atleast one wheel cylinder are shot, the one drum had brake fluid oozing out the bottom and the lines were damp with fluid.

Mix:
The guy didn't know much about the car, he seemed really rude and ignorant till I started really telling him what I knew, the car was rough and he was inflexible on price, he'll have it a while unless he calls me and accepts my offer ($1,000, I'm being nice and willing to give it a good home and a friend), the car must burn oil, there were a few quarts in the trunk, the trunk and floors seemed soft.

my opinion on it
