'69 Fury III Convertible Build Thread- Project IVY

It's been rough lately on the home front, My grandmother passed away here at my home on Friday, my grandfather is in a rehabilitation hospital here in town and between the two I seem to have lost all motivation to finish my car, it bothers me I never got a chance to take Grandma out in the car, bothers me more that I don't have the means to be able to finish the car at this time the way it should be done, and it bothers me that it's getting worse by the day in it's current surroundings,

I've considered selling it multiple times in the last few days, Then the realization of what I have to show so far in my life set in, at 18, I have a now rusty 21 year old high mileage truck that needs a lot of TLC, I have a VERY Rusty 45 year old car that needs even more TLC and I have 3 years before I can even attempt to write a test that may or may not better myself, I've got good friends but so far I always seem to come out on the bad end of things, I've worked in my current position for 3 years (the last year and half full time) and I'm starting to loath going into work everyday, With my lack of motivation on the car at this point it would only do harm for me to touch it,

At this point I have a lot of tough decisions to make.

And I think my hair line is retracting.

Nick

Nick:

I'm very sorry to hear about your grandmothers's passing. It must be a very rough time for you, and I can tell you are depressed.

I've heard it said that when you have suffered the loss of a loved one, you should put off making any important decisions for a while. I know its trite to say it, but time will eventually heal your wound, so be patient with yourself. . .

Nick, I truly feel for you. I am glad you are moving along. Yes, it will be difficult, but I am sure someone as young and motivated as you are will succeed. Take it one day at a time. Work on those days when you are motivated, and take a breather on the other days and get together with grandpa. Best of luck. And remember, you are also doing this for everyone on here too. We are all rooting for you.

Nick, you jumped back in. Even if you decide to walk away from this car in the future, you have now earned my respect forever.

:eek:ccasion14: DITTO THAT !!!! :eek:ccasion14:

I have a new goal in mind and I'll be damned if I'll let anything come between me and accomplishing it, Grandpa wants to take Grandma's ashes to where Great Grandpa and Great Grandma, as well as 3 of my great Aunts are buried in Montreal, He wants to go in May, I'm taking the Fury, Rust, Primer, I don't care, I'm driving it.

Nick

I think that would do wonders for you Nick. Being able to drive the car will give you a big boost in motivation to do more work on it.

Sorry for all thats going on, but glad to hear your going to hold onto the car!!

Sounds like you are coming around. Keep your head up.

Go get 'em Nick, I am using same theory with my Barracuda if its not in paint by Carlisle I'm putting the windows in and racing in primer the rest of the year.

My horoscope this morning said " You might want to spend your day visiting with friends. You could pick up some interesting information from them, which you might be able to put to work for you. You could lay plans for finally attaining a long-term goal; perhaps a lucky break made this possible. Expect to spend most of your day talking and planning!"

I didn't read it until about 10 minutes ago, I spent the morning with a friend and the afternoon with my elderly Neighbor talking terms about a certain workspace.

A big "ATTA BOY" to you Nick......!

I gave up on NASCAR after Earnhardt died. . .
So you were an Earnhardt fan ......... Not a NASCAR fan.

Well. . . That is only partly true. I liked Earnhardt, but I also liked a couple of the other drivers like Mark Martin and that funny guy in the old No. 9 car. The final straw for me was the creation of "The Chase."

Sorry about your loss Nick, if i was closer i would help you work on your car.

Thanks Darrin! If anybody here was closer I never turn away a set of experienced helping hands!

tinkered a bit, pulled the Dizzy and carb. Had my first chance to use the fender covers I bought in August, realized my Fury hasn't had fenders on it since November 2012.

Also had personal photographer take some pictures (the blurry one is my photography skills) LOL, The one she took on Saturday, the other was tonight as I tinkered, all I heard was "Hey smile" *click*

I've dragged cars that far in worse ground conditions with the winch on my buddies trailer but its a good idea to get after it while frozen.

wait for the snow to melt and move it out at night when the ground is frozen
