'69 Fury III Convertible Build Thread- Project IVY

Now'll you'll really see what kind of gal she is.
This point is always the "keeper"/"deal breaker" point in terms of getting engaged or not.

Manual disc brakes and a bad knee? Doesn't sound like a good combination. Maybe Santa's helper could see her way to finding you a booster & power brake master cylinder?

Good plan :)

We took a drive out in the Corvette and had a look at it.

She said "Buy it if you want, but remember that you saved that money for one green MoPar, I'll stand behind whatever choice you make"

She was right, why spend my money on another car that will only sit till I finish this one, when I can be a few leaps and bounds ahead of my schedule on my Angel.

Besides I got my first speeding ticket ever on my way there, it was an omen, I wasn't meant to buy that car.

Just for Yard driving Kevin, I have a Booster & master for cores, thats my winter project.

Over the winter I will accumulate the pricey bits that are of lesser importance; new gas tank, new rear seat covers, Power booster and master, 4 barrel carb, and linkage, new 26" rad, and shroud, etc

Anyway, we attended the Jays-Tigers game yesterday, which ended up being a record setting game, unfortunetly the Tigers lost out in the 19th inning.

Driving the Corvette with the T Tops out reminded me of how much I need to drive my rag top, being able to look out over the windshield and see the blue sky and feel the wind in my hair really renewed my drive to get going hard on this car.

Today the 360 left my posession for good, it will become a 408 Stroker in the near future. The guys were quite nice and told me if there's anything I need, let them know because they would love to be able to help, "I don't mind helping out young guys like you, we need more guys your age, your not playing with honda's, you know whats good,if you need anything, you have my phone number, don't hesitate to call, you'll have to come see my Road Runners"

So with that money I move on to a new front suspension and steering system for my Fury, as well as a start on my new brakes.

11 years ago today I lost someone extremely important to me, not a day goes by I don't think about Him.

2 years ago today something important came into my life. It created opportunities that I doubt I would of had otherwise. It showed me who my true friends were. I met many great people I'm proud to call friend, and I dropped a few people from my life because of this car. I've spent a lot of time working on it and after 2 years I'm seeing progress.

I've learned more things in the time I've owned it then I might have ever learned, and not just about the trade or the hobby, but about life it's self. Of the things I've learned not all were good, but the vast majority were not bad.

My goals, ideals, opinions and thoughts have evolved in the time I've spent with this car, as it changed so have I. Both as a person and physically.

I've had a lot of good things happen to me in the last two years, enough to overshadow the bad. The good started the day I bought this car, It's kept me out of trouble as much as it's got me into trouble.

So after two years, I know that it won't be long till I hear the thump of your new heart, and I get to actually drive you. I'm finally succeeding in fulfilling a dream I've had since a child. I gave up a lot to get here, but hell, the best things don't come easy.

I lost one important thing and gained another years later, that is why my Plymouth is my Guardian "Angel", because I know who's with me every step.

We're both a bit more solid and a lot more wise.

Nick.

People come and go, but a Plymouth I can always depend on.

Well said! Been trying to catch up on your thread.. holy 165 pages batman!

It sure is nice to look back and have that feeling of accomplishment of how much you've learned and how far you've come.

Cheers

Like I mentioned the 360 sold the other day. I found out it was a '79 360, I thought the 9 was a 3. Guy didn't care anyway, I went up yesterday night and saw his friends car collection, he has some seriously cool and rare cars.

I spotted a '68 Fury sedan sitting in the bushes after we exited his building, he saved it from the crusher but only because he wanted original bolts for restoring his cars, it's a 318/727 car. I was told if I wanted anything off it just say the word.

While I was there I saw the carnage that was the 360 after it was opened up and apart. Conn. rod bearings were toasted, it was crusty inside, water passages were plugged.

Today I stopped at the scrapyard and found everything I saw on the floor of his shop lastnight.

It was bitter sweet.........I guess this is why I usually don't sell local.....

Yard owner knows me and likes me. I gutted the heads, kept the fuel pump, distributor, valve covers and all the parts off the intake and went in the yard and got some stuff for $10, which means I got half of my 360 back and I'm still ahead $215

I also kept a piston, I decided to see if I could get someone to autograph it. He was more then happy too.

And well a picture for Dave. Which if she knows I posted this here, I will be murdered. She doesn't like having her picture taken despite my constant telling of how the camera picks up her natural beauty.

Well, I haven't been really talkative lately, took my girlfriend and my new best friend/playmate (She asked me if I was taking her dad on a playdate the other day) over to see the guy's car collection, and It was nice seeing him that "wowed". The next day (Friday) after I came back from pulling some parts from the '68 Fury he showed me some pictures he dug out of his Pursuit Package '75 Gran Fury, that was cool as hell. but I've also been picking away at things, clubbed the crap out of the tie-rods with the sledge till they popped (forgot my fork in my tool box at work) but there out, should have those new parts by the end of the week. Got my parts too, test fitted the rad, I'm gonna run a transmission cooler as well, just for safe measure. This weekend I'll do the steering, we'll put the 318 together, I'll paint it, then in it goes. I have new U-joints I'll do this week too, paint the driveshaft then thats done too. Next is Ball joints, control arm bushings, and strut rod bushings, then my spindle swap.

Wow.
It's totally OK to be checking in less frequently.
You more than anybody deserve a well rounded life now.
But don't forget us either. I live vicariously through you.
Don't let me down ;-)

Very good. Just make sure you run from the transmission to the cooler to the rad and back to the trans and not the other way around.

Just me being paranoid, but if you could close up that gap at the bottom of the rad so that it fits better to the core support, your cooling will thank you.

Great stuff Nick! That 19 inning game must have been brutal to sit through, you stayed for the whole thing??

I'll make you proud dad, Saturday my father in law and I are putting my healthy 318 together.

Coming along nice! Love looking at the pics and seeing the progress. Its gonna look great.
I'm hoping the car looks half decent and is semi together next spring.

I'm still playing with the fitment, Due to someone's messing around, I actaully can't run the trans cooler the way it should be. I have the one in my Cheyenne set up like that, but someone put two plugs in the bottom of this rad and even with heating I can't get them out.

We stayed till the bottom of the 18th of the 19, we finally gave in when neither of our asses could take the stadium seats anymore and neither of our stomach's could take the hunger any longer.
