71 new yorker whats it worth?

Well in the end I got it for 2000 bucks a running drivable sunroof New Yorker
Reason I asked is because it's my first actual Chrysler
The closest thing to a Chrysler I've ever owned before this was my 66 Imperial
And the reason behind why am not selling it is it's easy to sell one but it's not easy to find one
( and I really really really like the design of the body it's absolutely gorgeous !)
Love it, baby it, die with it!

I believe the more comparable example even with the much better paint was the one we discussed in this thread on FCBO - anyone possibly know what it sold for before the auction ended?

The thread above was last commented in the beginning of Sept. 2014. I wrote the vendor a month later, in October. He still had the car, an original Iowa specimen. A mid-western car, that is, with all that it entails.
He had a '71 NY four door too, as well as a very nice '71 Sport Fury with only 55K miles on it, a brown one with a gold interior, which later appeared in the eBay, too.
Anyway, he was asking 10.5K for the New Yorker 2d HT. It had some puzzling rust issues. There was some bubbling through at the sills and around the stainless steel moldings, as well as underneath the car, mostly in front. All well and squarely documented in the photographs and e-mail he sent me. He told me he'd have those fixed if the car would not sell, that is "if he decided to keep it".

So to the original question about it having been sold - I doubt it did, at that price, over there, with the rust issues. I for one decided against it only after a lengthy consideration.

I have no intention of selling it
Just wanted to see what I paid for it was fair

Cherish it! (But for goodness sake, have it painted! It deserves that.)

There were not many '71 New Yorkers 2d HTs made, and only a handful have survived. Some sources estimate that there were around 640 sunroof Chryslers in 1971. The number is an estimate based on the percentage (0,4%) of total Chrysler production (160 428 total) that year. Nobody knows how many of those sunroof cars were New Yorkers. My wild guess is: probably less than twenty.

Surprisingly good trunk floor, tells me the rear window area isn't total rot.

How many miles are on that car? The photo with the Canadian coin in it, is that the sunroof itself with the rust hole in it or what is it that I am looking at?

Too much crunchy stuff for the normal handy guy. It's gonna take someone devoted to the task more than the car.

It looks like prolonged water accumulation type of rust rather than salt type damage given the better than expected frame condition. Maybe Barnfind could comment on that? So no one knows the miles on the car then? I don't think that rust is too challenging. If I didn't already have one of these, I would be seriously interested.

I'd be interested too, but this is way more work than I'd be comfortable with. That patina is sick looking tho, and it's a two-door. I'm not importing ANYTHING from Canada however.
