72 & 74 Imperials

I agree, it's unfortunate that Imperial didn't tout the importance of the 50th Edition, you know like 1 of XX or even special gold badging somewhere on the car. If someone didn't tell you, or were one of the 57 original owners, you'd never know. You could raise the bullshit flag and if the greasy car salesman didn't know the options list he'd have a very hard time proving it.

Chrysler did designate these 57 cars as an Imperial "Crown Lebaron".

The problem was that the Imperial LeBaron Crown Coupe Edition was introduced half way through the 1974 production run and it did not make it into the brochures.
Not that Chrysler Corp did a very good marketing job with the Imperial to begin with.

Get the 74 Will... the price is a little high, but it seems a nice enough car... and we Formal guys would love to drag you into our little world.

Sounds like your searching for some self justification Jeff. :poke:
Sorry, just not a formal guy. I'm a slave to the fuseys. Besides, I'm just looking for a quick "fluff, buff & flip" to support my 61 Fury habit. The 72 was a lot nicer last time I saw it a year and a half ago. Not enough meat on the bone now. I think it can be had for $2500.00. A good deal for someone with resources to fix it and drive it.

[QUOTE="CBODY67, it looks like the rear quarter panel color is different from what's on the door and front fender. Of is it "the light"?[/QUOTE]

He did an amateur hand buff & polish on the left rear 1/4.
A good pro cut & buff would make a big difference.

Nah... I'm pretty secure with being the dumbass I am...

I would love that 72 if I owned her, but my current game plan, if you could call it that, is to stick with my pointy nosed favorites. I love too many of the others, but finding parts for what is essentially one model is bad enough... I am so impressed at the job you've done tracking stuff for the 61... Too bad all that skill isn't going into a nice Formal.:D

I am so tired of telling the guy on the phone that, "I don't care what your catalog says, Its 71-73, not 71-74. 74 is different".

I like that 74, but the color. Now if it were black, man, that would be sharp.
There is one of those around... but the seller kept believing he hadn't destroyed his 1 or 57 status and wanted many times more than you or I would have paid.

The one from Ohio?
I was thinking of a different one.
Weekend Edition Quick Hit – How about a 1974 Imperial Crown Coupe, claimed as only 1 of 57 made…

Will, have you ever driven a Formal.....even for a test drive?

OH..... yes Bob. My dad had a couple back in the day. I love them. Nothing on the road like them, except perhaps for a fusey.
The biggest drawback to me is there are no formal convertibles. What can I say..... Love having the rag over my head ..... or nothing.
