If any of you guys have extra respirators/masks. I beg you send them to your local hospital. My dear sister is an RN and she says all PPE supplies are locked up.I had to buy supplies on ebay and send them to her.The number of people sick is going to sky rocket as testing grabs hold.Rural areas are the worst areas because hospitals are few and have almost no equipment. Please be careful.Do what the experts say. Some healthy fear is good.We want to enjoy our hobby but only if our health comes 1st.You guys are the best.B.B

After years of thinking it over...the wifey and I decided to demolish our tiny cabin in town and have a builder build a big garage on the lake with an attached house. There should be enough room to store McGoldy, Tina Patina, Hazel Anne and ??? The neighbor a couple doors down is installing a BendPak 4 post lift in his garage. I'm in the early stages of shopping for lifts. I certainly want to pick the brain of the neighbor so I can place electrical, etc...in correct location before we sheetrock and finish. As of right now I believe the plan is a 5 inch thick concrete floor with the epoxy coating finish, a stout heater and finish all the walls and ceiling with paint. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated if anyone has any pointers on a set up or lift brands. The garage is 3 wide 2 extra deep stalls. The sq footage is around 1100 if I recall from the blueprint/specs.

There is always a lot of talk about the best quality lifts. 20 years ago I couldn't afford the best so I went with one of the cheapest. I have used the hell out of it in my restoration business and personal use. Just now after all these years the cylinder is just starting to leak. I'm not saying don't buy the best you can but if you're going to use it just for parking under you can save some money going cheaper. And before someone mentions safety even the cheap lifts have the same locks for it to rest on.

Remember if you park one car under the lift and another on top you need garage door clearance so the door clears the upper car.
Side /wall mounted garage door opener and hi lift rails will help. Ceiling height is also important.
I have a 4 point lift 8 Plus long 8,000 from Direct-Lift
I got mine from Benco Equipment which is located in MN and ND.

Make sure you chalk outline your floor with the dimensions to see how much room it will take.
As you can see I am using up about 12’ of width. If I cleaned the right side, I could move it over about 2’ and only take 10 to 10-1/2’ width.

About 9’5” door clearance height with hi-lift rails.

If car and lift were just a little forward I could go from 4’7” to bottom of lift to about 5’1”. Enough to put another C-body or regular car under if you take the ramps off. Forget SUV’s.

With my door @5’3” open. I can get 5’7” clearance under the runway. (I may be able to sneak it up to 5’6”

I do have a manual alert system.

That's the same brand I have. Mine is only a 7000# though.

7,000 would be plenty. They had this one used. The guy that had it wanted to go wider to clear his pickup mirrors. The thing looked brand new.

Oh and a ceiling outlet would be ideal. I got a Heavy duty extension cord and routed it out of my way. Plus an adapter to run power strips for lights and such.

I was thinking of placing one lift in the back row of garage away from the door lifts and mechanisms which may or may not be an issue. TBD. The ceiling is suppose to be tall. I am aware the heater might be in back corner. However, I don't want the heater kicking heat out on a lifted vehicle.

If your work area is going to be in the front wall or by your dog wash, you may want your heater over the walk-in door or close to it. It would keep it from directly blasting over your cars. A couple of ceiling fans will help even out the heat and facilitate melting in the winter.

In floor heat would be the best -- then if you need to bolt lifts to the floor just pour the floor 8 inches thick with concrete. Yes -- the ceiling outlet idea is extremely good and it does work well. The other option would be to go with cord reels from Reelcraft -- they make the good ones in the USA that are either cords for power or hoses for air or water.

Best four post lift design I've ever seen is the Backyard Buddy style with the lift deck support that completely surrounds the post -- incredibly stable and then you do not need to bolt anything to the ground. If you've ever seen how the locking mechanism is you wouldn't get anything else as it is impossible to have the deck ever unlock itself and fall down on the post for any reason. I haven't purchased a Backyard Buddy in a long time -- but I think Advantage Lifts sells them? I'm not affiliated with BB in any way -- I'm just an end user and I've seen the BendPak type of lifts and I just didn't feel comfortable with two tons of car above me working on something that I saved $2,000 on and was unstable compared to the BB. I know I better get the flame suit on right about now before I post this reply -- but that's the honest truth with these lifts. You do get what you pay for.......and I know what I just stated above all costs more money. But for where we live -- heat in the floor is the only way to go when the outdoor weather is total misery for 7 months of the year.............

Best of luck with your project!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine has been well used over the 20 plus years. Now when I'm not using it for a car it's is my extra weight bench.
