I want to take a moment and share in some nostalgia. When I was getting ready to go off to college, my very hard working dad secretly bought me a 1970 Chrysler Newport sedan that looked virtually identical to this one (I think this is a 69?). As I recall it had 45,000 miles on it and he gave $700 for it, then he had it re-painted for me. 383 2bbl and 15 mpg. I think it had a 20 gal. tank and a 300 mile range. It was a good car.
He was the best dad a guy could ask for.

Thanks. I have an old Motor’s Manual with photos of the grilles but was too tired last night to check it. I also noticed the difference with the grille between this one and my 70. My 70 was a standard Newport. It had an AM radio and AC. Not much else! This is a 71 Newport Royal. The grille has the two horizontal strips and the center emblem like Newports and Newport Customs made that year, the side trim end doesn´t extend close to the front wheel well and the rear bumper is smooth like those of 70 Newports and Newport Customs and it has no slotted trim on the tail lamps. Royal was the new cheap model and it was equipped with a 360 LA when neither a 383 or a 440 was desired by the original buyer.
Sad to see GB2 Glacial Blue (I think) resting on its laurels and gathering rust.
