When I spoke to him yesterday, he mentioned the additional parts in the trunk. Said he had a new dash clock in there too, even though the current one works fine.

heh I should laff, in the early 80's I had in my possession a 77 Caddy Fleetwood with the 472 engine and some get up and go 3.9x gears. Real quick to the gas station...

Seller sent me a 30 sec video of the car parked in a garage. i asked to highlight the "rust" but what came back was a shot of road rash behind pass. rear tire with very dull surrounding paint. as vid moved up the quarter the shine dramatically improved.

long story short i could not conclude anything about the finish. current owner says he did not replace engine but i felt getting a VIN block confirmation wasnt gonna happen. the ring/pinion set in trunk was "an extra" he said.

EOD. Too many questions. I need eyes on it. I will have it inspected this weekend if it isnt sold. If it is sold before then so be it. One of you folks wanna move on it in the meantime? Great! Party on.

I am not dissin' car or seller .. i just need more info to decide whats fair price to me. $3999 aint it ... but $2000 feels a tad low. Its worth $100 inspection to me to find out.

I totally agree with you, I have done inspections for site members, and I can tell you there are cars out there that are WAY misrepresented. It is the best thing in the world to know up front before you buy it, than after. Good luck.

Be sure to check out the bottom of the rear quarters under the trunk for rust. If it rusty behind the rear tires I can almost guarantee the bottom of the trunk is rotted out.
