8 3/4 rear end?

will a third member from an a body work in a 1966 8 3/4 housing? I don't know if the axles are the same?

Yes, there are 3 different center sections, 741, 742, 489. There are a couple different yokes, you may need a conversion u-joint. I believe the axles are the same spline, just different lengths for different housings. Check out the tech archives here for some good info on the 8 3/4
