Started tearing down the ac system to clean it out and convert it to r134a today. I order that parts for this last summer and finally opened the box for the dryer. It doesn’t seem to match up fully with the old one. Got the new one from rock auto only has one port on the side where the old one has a cover port then the pressure switch. What do you guys think do I need a new different dryer?

You need to have the pressure switch as low gas pressure will toast your compressor. Last time I checked, Napa still sold the correct one. Failing that, they are readily available on Amazon.

The low-pressure switch came into use in the earlier 1970s. Prior to that, no switch, as the one that was bought. The pressure switch is a safety device for the compressor, as mentioned.

If that is a plug that will unscrew then I would say yes you can probably add the binary switch at that place.
