Any recommendations on shipping companies?

I own an F-150. And I've pulled New Yorkers with it on U-hauls.
When I book the trailer, it's an F-250 going to pull a Rambler American....

Deal is done and paid for. Now I've just got to get it home. I'm leaning towards paying the $450, but I'm going to check U Haul tomorrow and see if I can get a truck and a trailer. What I'm seeing online is that it would still cost close to $350 to rent, for another $100 I could be waiting for the delivery on my porch with a beer.

What ever is easiest for you...

Myself.....I'll get on the road as often as I can.

Cruising my NYB, towing, whatever.

Told them either a Ram 1500 or my Cheyenne C1500, and of course it was for the Duster, no problems, no further questions, pick it up here at this time.............

It'll be cheaper than hiring someone to truck it for you and besides....

I'll bet you'll have a great day on the road with the loved one or your son.

Believe me, this is what I originally envisioned, but it's just not coming together for me this time around. The boy is away at college, the girls have become "girls" (when did that happen?), and the wife draws the line at occasionally hoisting a crowbar. The big adventure happens hen the car is finished and we go on the Great Cruise. This parts car will make that happen a lot sooner.

Soundz like the porch and ah 6 pack iz your best option Samplingman. Remember one thing when you're shopping for ah hauler this time of year. NEGOTIATE THE RATE. The Snow Birdz are all movin' their iron south this time of year and in the trucking industry nobody wants to haul sail boat fuel or motor cycle doorz any farther then necessary. They all have to get back where the gravy iz, Jer

Yep.
Car carriers are arriving by the chitload right now and they're all hungry to get back up north for just the fuel money.
If you're up North and want a FL car shipped, do it now . I see as low as $0.60/mile right now.
For me, in the Fall, the reverse.

Thanks guys for all the advise! I've booked a shipper through Uship for $350, delivery Friday, which is a lot sooner than I thought, so I'm happy. I'm glad you all gave me the heads up on the tow dolly, I'm thinking that would have been a big mistake now. Once I get the car in my driveway I'll post some pics on my restoration thread. I'm eager to see the fender tag on this one, it looks like it is fully loaded.

Good choice, James. Even if you had the best equipment (tow dolly doesn't qualify), there's a learning curve to pulling a trailer & this doesn't seem like a good time to practice....

That is amazing. Uship charges the shipper a fair amount, I think it's what ever the deposit is. What's left is his actual bid. I've shipped anything from lawnmowers to semi tractors. I had one deliver a Army 6X6 M818 (around 21,000 lbs) on a gooseneck pulled with a F250 (not a dually). Yikes!! How the DOT did not pull him over, I don't know.

Who did you end up with? That is a great rate.

At the present time "no body" as the deal was not a done deal at the time,,, and I used the pricing to see what my best option was however it's pretty much all set now and I will be getting new quotes.

Montway Inc was the lowest bidder.

I drove OTR hauling general freight for awile and Florida was usually a "dead end" trip. Lots of consumers there but not much productivity. More then once I had to dead head out.

The only thing leaving here is orange pulp in tankers.
The other 50% of the trucks I see passing through Sebring are full containers heading north out of Miami and empty containers going back.
Containers. I can't think of a lower paying commodity.

I've used these guys A1 Auto Transport | Vehicle Transport | Car Shipping Companies before without issue. I assume what you're having shipped is non-op? You'll probably want to specify that when you contact companies because I think it's usually priced different than normal. Realistically, you should have a lot of options along the east coast, so you may want to do some price comparison before making a decision.

Edit: older thread, nevermind.

No problem, thanks for the trip down memory lane. Back in the day a question can streach out to two pages, now it's nothing but crickets. A lot of those guys commenting are no longer on the board and two of them have passed, RIP. I miss those days.
