There were like 6 ships left when I moved out 3 years ago. The damn fish huggers didn't like the environmental crap that was taking place there so they had to go. I have no idea where the USS Iowa wound up??

Many many more then that the last time I came bogging in there on 80. I think it was either '78 or '79? destination was Sausalito, Shesh. You gotta go someplace else first before you can even get to that town from I-80 lol. FWI, I grew up in Long Beach and then Whittier. Did Drivers training in SoCal when the old US 99 was a 3 lane death trap between Santa Anna and San Clamante where it ran past El Torro back then.. Don't think that Marine Air Base is even there anymore? Did a tour in the Corps in the mid '50s and never left California. San Diego, Oceanside, and 29 Palms. Left the state in '61 and have been back many times to visit family but I couldn't live their anymore. First time I had motorcycles passing me on the dotted lines between lanes on the 405 with cops watching and not trying to catch 'um and spank 'um I thru' up my hand and said enough for me and that was a couple years before 9/11.Talk again later Stubs, Jer
