Man, this is my nightmare scenario. I worry constantly as I see more and more "drivers" with their heads up their asses texting or talking while they try to operate a vehicle! I am very happy for you that your wife is sorta, relatively okay, and I wish you and her a speedy and complete recovery !!!

You also have my prayers for a speedy recovery as well. Something like that really can change one's perspective on life. With so much distracted driving taking place due to people's preoccupations with their phones, even going through an intersection is a huge risk anymore - I take extra glances both ways before assuming it is safe to go through. Its getting really bad.
