I will paint it soon..it looks “raw” because it was acid dipped after the restoration and the restorer left it as is, so I can apply the correct paint in my shop.
a few people were asking why I didn’t up grade it with a 3 row or a 26” high capacity radiator…..a 3 row isn’t original, but you can make it work, but it’s not original.
So this 6BBL, will be as delivered, and correct. My builder advised that I just need to “flush it annually”, as we all should do to keep the acid levels in check.

Interesting but true..no fan shroud and direct drive fan..no fan clutch on a 6BBL barge!!

I do.
The key to it according to my radiator builder is keeping the system clean with a annual flush and replacement with new coolant.
It’s the acid and ph levels in the coolant which lead to corrosive activity and clogging.
Another thing to consider is making sure your water pump impeller has the correct number of vanes for high flow. Many rebuilt water pumps have less than adequate impellers.

Trev: Do you know if any 6bbl GT’s came with 26” rads? All the ones I know of seem to all be 22” equipped. A max cooling radiator was available for these cars. 2998968 is the part number.

To the best of my knowledge all the 6BBL Sport Fury GTs had the 22” 2 core/row radiator, because they were all non A/C cars. No Six Pack cars had A/C. Max cooling was either with A/C, a “tow package”, “gear” AKA Track-Pack, or 440 HP…but the 6BBL had neither..go figure.
the 22” 2 core worked..cost less..so that’s what they got.
They did have the “max cooling” ducting, but no fan shroud and direct drive fan. As far as I know there was no 26” radiator offered or any built with one.
All I can say it the 6BBL GT is one of the weirdest/strangest muscle cars built!!!

Not sure why you think my windage tray isn’t OEM.? Of course,….it is. I appreciate the question…we all need to learn and discover from each other’s knowledge.
I chose it from a lot of 8-10 original trays including NOS MoPar Performance trays…which aren’t correct, for this application by the way..
Windage trays are a “rabbit hole” which few have gone down…I have. There are “early” versions that are different from later versions, stampings, flanges, manufacturers codes etc.. but rest assured, mine is correct.

And as shown the 2998 970 was for A/C which obviously could not be ordered with a 6bbl. Was there only one rear end gear ratio on these 6bbl cars?

I can't really tell from your photos but it appears that yours doesn't have the slots (or vents) for the slinging crank oil to go back into the pan.
I know when I dropped the pan on my 6bbl to bang the dent out of it in the 70's that in re-gasketing everything back the windage tray had these slot/vents and you can't get more original/vintage than that in 1971.

My windage tray is correct. It has louvres in the side, you just can’t see it well in the photo.
The photo of the windage tray you posted is not assembly line equipment, it’s a aftermarket MoPar Performance part FYI.

How can you tell that, by the numbers stamped in the middle of the tray? It was the best picture of the louvers that I had, here's another but low res picture (old)
BTW nothing 6bbl special about the windage tray it came on all the hi performance engines in the late 60's.

YES ,STD RATIO WAS 3:23... YOU COULD ORDER 2.7-9 HOWEVER...
The 22" rad does an adequate job of cooling these cars stock. The son of the original owner of my GT told me the only time they had an overheating issue with the car was the climb to the top of Pikes Peak Colorado (which they drove all the way from Pennsylvania to get there).
When I recently did the timing chain on the car I did find an old 10 blade water pump on it as well.

When I restored my Cuda, an original 6 pack car, I opted for the radiator upgrade and matching radiator support and a new remanufacturered set of Holley carburetors for the 6-pack set up. That was 40 years ago and I have no regrets for my decisions. I do not like marginal performance in hot weather nor the junk casting material in the original Holley carburetors.
But I also respect those who decide to do theirs completely stock.
So far, no one has made any comments as to my choices over the years.
My buddy, who restored his original 6 pack 1970 Challenger along with me when we did my Cuda and his Challenger together, used the original 6 pack carburetors and 22" radiator and has regretted his decisions over the years since he deals with high engine temperatures and problematic engine operation due to the original carburetors' warping metering blocks over time and driving it in Southern California often.
My Cuda, unfortunately, did not have its original body code plate present and it has never been found. As a result, I restored it as I would have ordered it from the factory, not as it was actually optioned in many areas. So I took some liberties in my endeavor.
In Fury Pursuit's case, though, I fully understand and respect all his enormous efforts to make his just like it rolled off the assembly line with as many original date coded parts as possible. In Washington, where he resides and temperatures are much cooler than in Southern California, none of his decisions should affect him should he decide to drive it on a regular basis.
Note, I did feel the importance of using original corbin clamps for the hoses though!
I chalk it all up to the follies of youth (relatively speaking)!!

Nice eye candy! What are the large pods on the side of the front and rears? Some type of lock-out dashpot?
