when i did my 72 newport custom the calipers where from a newyorker . i had the same problem i took them back and asked them to get a newport caliper and when it came in that one was the same as what i had . worth checking

This is a rebuilder/core issue. The C Body and B/E caliper use the same piston and seal kit. All the reman companys have got the cores mixed up. Ordered 12 C body calipers from various warehouses...only two were C Bodys. I have 12 original calipers out being rebuilt in Toronto. This is a widespread problem.....getting phone calls from all over looking for the 3" spread C body Calipers. Nigel @ National Moparts
