Can you cram `67 Imperial le baron seats in a `69 Fury convertible?

So is your car originally red with a blue interior?
Nope. It was originally scorch red black & black. Out here a black interior in a convertible is miserable. I started with pretty much nothing interior wise. Marko was parting out a rust bucket Sport Fury and I got lucky w some nice green panels. I decided to go blue and white w those and then have white or blue seats. Those blue 1970s monkey wards covers helped me decide that blue would look better. I’ve wanted a red white & blue car since the 90’s. My buddy from back east found a Vietnam Vet `68 charger RT that was blue paint white top red interior. Coolest car I’ve ever seen in person. Blue w red interior looks better than red w blue interior but I didn’t want to color swap the car. I figured since it’s a wrecked rusty car small block car w no interior I had a blank canvas to do whatever with. I wish we had cell phones back then because I don’t have one pic of that “Cha jah” as he called it. It was absolutely stunning.

Hard to tell from these pics. There wasn’t much interior to start with. My brother took these the night we picked it up. He “got it” the minute he saw it for the first time too. Love these old boats.

Ok front drivers seat color swap.

All blue primered & ready for the SEM treatment.

Went on very nice. If any of you guys ever decide to go this route I can’t say enough how easy this was.

The secret is to start w full cans and waste it when the can gets low. Don’t try to ring out the last drop or it will spray in splatters and droplets.

As you can see I decided to leave the trim and back pocket panel black. It’ll just get scuffed up with shoes anyways.

What do you guys use for the woodgrain tape on the seat back? Anybody sell that or do you have to cut up a woodgrain center console decal.

Mine is kinda roached.

Okay. I have the seat back in suitable shape to go back in. I’m out of SEM and I’m waiting for a shipment to arrive at my upholstery shop (the driveway). Again besides the shape, the ‘67 Imp hide was very close in size to my fury’s seat frame. It actually came out pretty good....

Elegant in its simplicity as presented but deceivingly complicated in design.

So how about some more details on how you got from start to finish on the rear seat back.

After modifying the top hide and adding material to the center it was pretty much the same as the seat bottom.
I was stuck for a solution for the pattern I was dealt but the fix was deceivingly easy. Look at this pic and after a while the fix hits you like a sledgehammer. Just rolled the two pipe seams under the new channel and unless you look real close you are tricked into not noticing my high school upholstery class fix. Sorry I could’ve took better pics but it was tedious and I almost gave up ( I started looking at seat backs close to mine from legendary), I stepped back for a couple days and then kinda powered thru it.

Looks like more was done than really happened. The yellow is the armrest so it’s not really there. The piping stayed but the trim material from the armrest hole was removed and the channel (red) was built around the old top seat pattern. All I added was a square and that dang wrinkled dip section. Coulda came out better but I hope it’s hidden by the chrome center.

This critter is really jacked up. I’ll need to source a new one as this is beyond help. I did rub it down w aluminum foil and got it to about 75% ok.

Just slapped it together. Had to drill holes in the ABC back cover. No biggie.

It wasn’t hard to locate the screws w no holes in the ABS plastic and the frame holes covered w fabric. Just started w the center speaker holes and worked my way out. Every screw I added aligned the next hole. Just jumped from side to side and worked my way to the outside edge. Until I ran out of screws that is.

Here it is 90% done I’ll buy the last 5 screws tomorrow.

I think you've done great so far, and the backyard is a fitting place for a budget job like this. I bet it looks fabulous and expensive when finished.
