My two exceptions. An Air Grabber or Shaker set-up. Course these aren't C bodies.

But it's always good to see Dad's work so well displayed.

Middle aged Metric owners who display their cars only trying to be accepted by the cool guys who are cool because they have a Metric. The truth is.. They are exactly like Corvette guys. AMWIK.

Yep, they buy their gold chains at the same shop.

Apologies to Metric owners here.

If an engine bay was restored to a perfect reference engine, then I want to see it, of course. I don't want to look at your purple air filter.

i wont vote for a car with hood closed since i assume the engine is a mess
I'll take my chances that I won't need your vote.

Besides, it's not all about winning a trophy. I think most of us go just to see everyone from all over the country that we became friends with. Check in with them, shoot the ****, hang out, have a few laughs, couple beers you know... fun stuff.

If you take home a plaque, fine, if not so what.

Thank you for sharing your opinion, but I don’t agree. Do you also leave the top up on a ‘vert?

I know of folks that have detractions for the top down. Here in Okieland top up is a sin

Apologies to the Metric owners here...

Why? Don't be a hypocrite. If you don't like metrics, that's your right. Slight loss of respect for anyone taking it back.

Now that is low. True, but low. I can't afford gold chains though. Just so you know at least one metric owning guy who can't/ won't. BTW my metrics are old enough that the metric guys snub me. Like many, they're just owners, not true believers

Again, don't take it back. You have a right to the opinion.

I'm torn in the middle.
I love fender tags and decoding fender tags.
Like to take a good pic and decode the tag later.
But I do like the hoods down so you can see the car for what it is.

I doubt anyone would refuse to open their hood to allow you to photograph the tag. Plus it's a great ice breaker for talking about his car.

Maybe it would be good to have a "hood up" row. Spread some tools around on a fender protector. Looks like a service area with hoods up anyways. :poke:

I’m curious to what is a “metric owner” or what a “metric” is?
I’ve never heard that term before and couldn’t find it anywhere on the Internet.

Metric Mopars are newer cars that supposedly use all metric fasteners. Hellcats, 4 door Chargers, Ram Trucks, etc. It's a form of bigotry among Mopar owners with "metric" being the "n word".
Some Bikers describe non Harley V-twins with the same term, although I see it with less frequency, and less hostility.
I'm not sure what year it starts. My 2000 Ram is part metric. For sure it starts around 2005 or 2006 with the Magnum and Charger LX platforms. It may go back into the 90's with the intercooled Shelby Daytonas and the Charger/Turismo 2.2. I don't know, and frankly don't care.

I also couldn't tell you if Ford people or Chevy folks treat each other with equal disdain. Perhaps they do.

Thanks for the thorough explanation. LOL, no wonder I couldn’t find that on the Internet!

If you google "metric bike" you may find an explanation. Frankly, I'd never seen the term "Metric Mopar" except in this forum. But the hostility has been around since the mid 2000's for sure. I saw it first hand at a Mopar show at Bill Luke Dodge in Phoenix around 2007.

No, not really... I think it came to being used on this forum when there was confusion about older Challengers and new Challengers. It became a slang term, but really not intended as a put down. We had one member that has a bunch of cars, including a very fast new Challenger, and I think we started using it for his cars... In fact, he may have started the term in use here.

We have a bunch of guys with the new Challengers, Chargers etc. Nothing wrong with that. I don't really care for the cars, but that's me. I don't like a lot of the new cars...

What I don't like is the guys that show up with the new Challenger at the cruise nights that think their **** doesn't stink... or they dis the old cars. I had one tell me that my Formula S Barracuda needed a new hemi for it to be cool like his Challenger. (there's more to that story) Those guys are very similar to the stereotypical Corvette owner. (BTW, I used own a Corvette) with the matching apparel and chairs. That isn't the majority and for sure it isn't the type of guys on this forum.

Hell, I think the Dodge Colt and Plymouth Arrow were metrics.

When I got into the Rampage+Scamp FWD Pickups in the early '80s it forced me to buy another tool box and invest in way more tool 'n sockets. Problem iz that you don't know from one fastener to the next with those little screamerz what its held together with. SAE or MM. I still love 'um no matter what, 'specially in TII form lol. Jer

I worked in a body shop in NY in the late 70s where we did work for an Oldmobile dealer. About 77 or 78 the header panels on Olds were bolted on with metric bolts. The rest of the body panels were not. You could tell the difference because the metric bolts were blue.
