Carlisle 2020 Official Thread

That's good to know. The only catch is I don't want to ruin my chances of possibly winning a trophy by entering in the wrong category. I just spent 7 years restoring my Windsor, so it will never look better than it does right now.
It's all participant judging, so it's really judged by guys that drove in there with cars in two other classes. You could be judged by guys in early Plymouth A Bodies and Stick shift Metric Challengers for example. It's really how the car is presented and how clean it is.

But, don't worry about getting a trophy (actually a plaque). Carlisle is more about getting together and having fun.

I quit entering cars for judging 20 yrs ago.
I also tend to enjoy shows more than my buddies hung up on winning a trophy.

This is the last trophy I received. The D.J.s Choice Award.
For a car that was invited to the Meadowbrook Concourse d’Elegance Show.

Well I just registered for Carlisle. 10% off right now, sure hope its a go! I decided to hang with the FCBO crowd and registered the Imperial in the '65-68 C Body Class.

Seems I can never find the Imperial Class so who knows where it will be this year. I've missed it a couple times in the past few years. LOL

And stop putting a scale model of your F*****g car on top of your air cleaner!
:soapbox::soapbox::soapbox::soapbox::soapbox::soapbox:

I will admit I am guilty of it too. :stop:, are you saying you didn't like our resin kit '68 Sport Fury model last year then? If you didn't that's fine, we just put it there because I thought people would think it was a cool addition to add to the car.

I love decoding fender tags.

Same here, I love that too. I love knowing what options cars came with, and knowing when and where they were built. I been bored lately so I been decoding all our Fury's fender tags. I got just about all of them done, except the 2 door sedan Hotrod project, the '68 fast-top, and the big beige '73 wagon. As far as I know and to the best of my knowledge the 4-door purple sedan was built September 14, 1966 (914 on tag)

Dont do it for other people, do it for you.

I take this coronavirus pretty serious. And based on what's happening I'm bowing out of Carlisle. Weather it's held or not. I just wouldn't be comfortable in such a large and diversified crowd.
I have three prime vendor spaces in row P. back against the fence. One of the few spots that gets shade all morning. Great place to camp. They are paid for. If a member or members here would like to have them all I would require is that they renew them at the office before leaving. There's a 5% discount for doing so.
They are $90.00 each for the entire week. (I normally get there on the Tue or Wed prior to the show dates). Includes 2 admissions each space and 3 vehicle passes
Jeff, (cantflip), has two spaces adjacent to mine, so it's like a compound.

that sucks. I was looking forward to meeting you and browsing through your stuff.
Good of you to offer it up to other members.
I would be interested in one of the spaces if someone else wants the other two.
I don't have a ton of stuff to sell, but i'd put some stuff out and put my phone number on it so interested parties could call me and buy if serious.

Very sorry to hear this, Wil. Carlisle ain't gonna be the same without you. Maybe I'll see you in November at the Garlits Meet. . . I'm saving up my AutoTrain points.

I think I have only missed 2-3 shows since it's inception in 91. It took some time to work my way into the prime spaces I have. Cantflip, on the other hand, was in the right place at the right time and when my "then" neighbor said he was moving he and Jeff went to the office and transferred the spaces to him.

I agree with Will. I am passing on the show as well. I have only missed one from the time it started . It will be hard because I love it but feel the risk is too high I am 62 and very healthy .Never been in the hospital for anything. Never broke a bone or had a disease of any kind until this past February when out of the blue I caught influenza typeA. Had it for 2 months and went to the hospital emergency room twice. I could not breath For the first time in my life I was truly scared I think I may have an idea what covid-19 feels like. I feel so sorry for the people that have had it and the ones who have passed from it This is a serious matter and I will wait until things get better and hopefully a vaccine is found. So for now I will enjoy summertime drives with my Newports and return to car shows next year. Everyone be well and be safe!

Hey Will, have you called Carlisle events and asked them to put a hold on your spaces for 2021? I would thing that would be a reasonable request. FWIW, Western PA is opening up we should be able to see if cases increase or decrease in the next 30 days. That should be a good indicator as to how an open air venue would fair. I'm still planning on coming, but will make a final decision that week for sure.
