Carlisle 2020 Official Thread

Y'all flapping your lips trying to define "Metric".
Everybody knows the history of metrics, OK?
As Big John said above, we started using it here to distinguish the new Challengers. I'm pretty sure Ross @Stormer used it first referring to his race monster.
Do I dis "metrics"? Hell no. I bought two new Corvettes and found out the owners were all effing a-holes and was sorry I bought them. Right now I'm lusting for a Hellcat but that got run over by a Kubota, which is Metric.
None of the "Metric" owners here appear to be of that stupid fan-Boi mentality.
Well, at least none of them are admitting if they bought the programmable multi-colored LED lighting and leave them flashing in the daylight at the shows.

Y'all don't have to apologize....wait you did that.
Or explain.
I've read your past posts.
You're welcome to your opinion.
I'm ok if you don't like them. It's rare, but there's a couple Mopar models I don't like
But don't disallow them at open Mopar shows. Any open Mopar show...for any reason.
I don't care what the car is held together with, or who the parent company of the day is.
So I don't differentiate between them. They're Mopars.
There are mods I don't care for.
I walk by without a word, and keep moving.
People don't like my air shocks...oh well.
At least help me figure out why my passenger window on our Polara is crooked.
I appreciate your help.
Anything that doesn't help with acceleration, handling, braking, or seeing at night, doesn't go on my vehicles. So LED strips and gold chains are out.

Carlisle passes are on sale... I was going to bring the '67 LeBaron but I don't know whether I should list in the Imperial class or '65-'68 C-body class. Decisions, decisions. Sometimes I don't even know where the hid the Imperials on the field....
Based on my past experience, the Imps are nowhere near the rest of the C's.
So if you want to mingle with the FCBO crowd put the 67 in with the C;s IMHO

Local car shows I've been in they a judge shows. If your hood is closed you lose points, the same for the trunk open or closed. At cruise-in's my hood stays closed unless asked. Most don't have a category for are cars. So your take Am I competitive. You bet, obsessive at winning no.

Hood down, you want to show off your engine, load it up against the converter and drop the hammer. Honestly Nobody cares about the crap in your trunk, unless your getting more beer out.

Yeah, I don't do that anymore.
The first year I got the R/T, I bought a plastic model of a 70 Super Bee and painted it to look like my car.
Went to a car show, and placed it on the air cleaner and then walked around for a while. When it was time to go, I went to close my hood and heard... CRUNCH.
This was the first and last time I ever put anything on my air cleaner.

[QUOTE="300rag, where can I get those gold chains you speak of??[/QUOTE]

Here's a tip....... buy the cheap chain they sell at most hardware stores for hanging things, and some gold paint.

You mean like this?

Just a subtle plea to all those bringing a car to show. Please display your car with the hood and deck lid closed. I know a lot of you are very proud of the detail work done under the hood, but, this is a car show, not an engine show.
The design of our cars is the draw and displaying with panels open does nothing for appeal. I know of at least three of us here who have left with a first place in C body's and never opened the hood. Ever been to a concourse event? All closed panels.

Open panels are not camera friendly either. I am always happy to open my hood for anyone who asks, but engine compartments and trunks aren't part of the judging process and mine stay closed. Of course this is JMHO.
Well heck, if I'd have known that, I may have entered the stock C-body class instead. My Windsor looks stock-ish as long as the hood is closed. I do agree about keeping hoods down is better. I like to photograph cars, and I usually skip past the ones with hoods up. I was going to take a picture of my engine bay, print it 8x10 and put it on the dashboard so anyone who is interested can still see what it looks like.

Depending on what happens with the virus and the border situation it might be a moot point anyhow, at least this year.

When you enter, park and go to the registration area, near the bleachers, and ask to change. It won't be a problem. They are very easy to deal with.

I pretty much scrapped my car show season. Ditto travelling anywhere.
I was planning on going to Newfoundland in September but even the borders down there are closed.
Oh well...more time to finish my girlfriend's 69 F3 and do some little things on the other cars.

That's good to know. The only catch is I don't want to ruin my chances of possibly winning a trophy by entering in the wrong category. I just spent 7 years restoring my Windsor, so it will never look better than it does right now.
