I just sent the form in for the FxBO tent, so it is time to start planning the tent activities for this year's event. (July 12, 2024 - July 14, 2024)

As a reminder, please list FBBO as your "car club" when registering a car. This helps us get a better tent for all of us to enjoy.
(We have been unable to get Carlisle to merge FABO, FBBO, FCBO, FEBO, etc. all into one for tent activities. So a few years ago we decided just to use FBBO. Note that registering your car with FBBO as your car club does NOTHING with respect to where your car gets shown, awards, etc. It merely allows us to get a decent tent for all to enjoy.)

As usual, we will be planning a big luncheon get together at the tent on Saturday. This luncheon is becoming very successful and enjoyable due to many members stopping by and also helping out. For all those that have helped or stopped by in previous years - THANK YOU! Our tent is growing so let's keep it going!

For those who may be new to FCBO or the tent:

On Saturday, July 13, we will have a luncheon starting at Noon for all FxBO members at Carlisle. This luncheon is free due to generosity of members who give up their time and resources so everyone can have a good time. Please stop by and be part of the fun!

We also have water and soda at the tent on Friday so FxBO members can stop by and get a drink in the shade. We will also likely get together Friday for lunch, and maybe for dinner too for those members who are staying over in or near the fairgrounds. More to came as we make further plans.

If you have any ideas for tent activities, or for improvements to how we have done things in the past, please respond on this thread or send me a PM. I am happy to consider all ideas!

I hope to see you at Carlisle!

Hawk (HawkRod/ moderator on FBBO)

I will add my 2 cents. After hanging with Hawk on last year's power tour I decided to swing by the FBBO tent at Carlisle.
Lots of good food, drinks and people. Worth stopping by and talking with others. Tent last year was very close to C body field so no "it's too far" or "it's on the hill".
No one will bite over there and they don't want to rip the BB out of your car for theirs. Stop by say hello.

Alright folks - it is starting to get close to Carlisle time!

I received my parking pass for my car today. Usually, at Carlisle I have too much to do so I can't show it, but one of my buddies will be driving it to Carlisle and showing it for me. Anyway, I received a map with it as well.

I scanned and edited the map to show where the FxBO tent is located. Please see attached picture below. The red box surrounds the indication for the tent; FBBO is tent "N". Look for the lightning bolt and circle in the middle of the picture and that is where the tent is located. This is a great location as it is centrally located for A, B, C, E bodies, etc.

Here are some rough details of the plans so far:
  • Friday, July 12: (All day) There will be a cooler with water and some soda available from late morning through the end of the day. Come get a free drink and some shade if you need it!
  • Friday, July 12: 12:30 PM. There will be a lunch gathering for those who want to stop for lunch at the tent. Water and soda will be available, and bring your own lunch and visit with some FxBO friends.
  • Saturday, July 13: Noon: The big luncheon starts at noon and goes until we get tired of eating and drinking, and/or the food and drinks run out! This is free of charge and is brought to you by the generosity of many members who contribute things for all of us. Come join the fun!
Also, if anyone has additional suggestions for use of the tent, please respond here or send me a PM. This is a resource available for all of us to use and enjoy. (Note that no cars are allowed to park near or in the tent, and we are not allowed to sell things at the tent either.)

Unfortunately I won’t be able to go to the show this year with my kidney issues and being on dialysis, but I hope to next year. Have fun to whoever goes, I hope to see some pictures.

Folks: Just a quick note that the FxBO tent luncheon is shaping up to be awesome, with lots of good food and drink. While this is not a guarantee, likely possibilities are ribs, Italian meatballs, spiced apricot pork, white hots (hot dogs), garlic shrimp and probably some sort of chicken and maybe a pulled pork. Maybe chili too. And, best of all, it's all free as long as it lasts. This menu may change up some, so it is not cast in concrete, but hopefully this gives folks an idea of the spread they might expect! The good food is due to the generosity of a few members who are working hard to plan, buy, and make this for everyone. Please be sure to thank them at the luncheon for their efforts!

Speaking of contributors: There are a couple who have sent me a PM about contributing beer, water and/or soda. One of the issues we had last year was lack of coolers and ice. Please, if you are bringing drinks, please do your best to bring them cold, and ideally iced down in coolers. Thanks!

It's getting close and I'm getting excited - hope to see you all at Carlisle!

Awesome Hawk, see you there. Got a extra car going this year with my son's car so will bring ice and beer.
Made it home from Power Tour, 1/2 quart of oil and a starter relay, the only casualties.

Hey, you 'aint trying if you don't have to fix a couple of things!!!

Glad you had a good Power Tour. I had a nice wedding but I certainly missed going to the Power Tour this year. Hopefully next year I won't have any schedule issues and will be back at it again!

Well, Carlisle 2024 is shaping up to be great! Here are the official FxBO tent activities, although we can certainly plan others if you have an idea (see me at spots E45 and E46 once you are at Carlisle, or contact me via PM prior to Wednesday).
  • Friday, July 12: (All day) There will be a cooler with water and/or soda (beer?) available from late morning through the end of the day. Come get a free drink and some shade if you need it!
  • Friday, July 12: 12:30 PM. There will be a lunch gathering for those who want to stop for lunch at the tent. Water and/or soda (beer?) will be available, but bring your own lunch and visit with some FxBO friends.
  • Friday July 12: 6:00 PM (?) Dinner for those staying nearby or on the grounds? This is not "official" yet, but if folks are interested, contact me. This will be a "bring your own" food, or several of us might order/ pickup some food.
  • Saturday, July 13: Noon: The big luncheon starts at noon and goes until we get tired of eating and drinking, and/or the food and drinks run out! This is free of charge and is brought to you by the generosity of many members who contribute things for all of us. Come join the fun!
A couple of notes please:
* If you are bringing any type of drink, please, NO GLASS BOTTLES! Carlisle fairgrounds wants cans and plastic only.
* Also, if you are contributing drinks please bring them cold and in a cooler if at all possible. Each year, cooler space has been at a premium.
* We have no idea how many will turn out for this, so food of your choice may be limited. I don't think anyone last year left hungry, but enjoy until it runs out!
* Chairs will likely be limited. I realize it is hard to bring a chair with you, but if you have one and it is close, it may not be a bad idea.
* Any FxBO member and their spouse/ family is welcome, but this is not an open luncheon to all. If you have someone interested but not a member, please encourage them to sign up for the FxBO site they are interested in.

Any questions or concerns, please PM me before Wednesday. After Wednesday evening, please come see me at spots E45 and E46.

Travel safely and see you all at Carlisle!

Hawk

Thanks everyone for a great day yesterday at the tent!

As usual, I was running around like crazy, trying to do 10 things at once and doing none of them very well. I certainly didn't have time for many pictures, but here are a few at least:

Here is what we start with. It's a bigger tent now that we have many of you signing up we "FBBO" as your club. Thank you to those of you who did!

Then we gotta take a lot of this junk and set up our vending "camp" and the tent.

Our "base camp" all set up!

Then we get tables and Chairs from Richard (Restoration Parts and Supplies), but have to lug them up to the FBBO tent. Then, on Saturday morning at 7AM, @5wndwcpe (aka Pistol Pete), Barry and I were up at the tent bringing canopies, grills, food, tables, etc, etc, etc. Pistol Pete's grill station is under the blue canopy and mine was under the red one (that's my Road Runner in the foreground too).

Then, the man, the myth, the legend: Pistol Pete fired up his grills and burners. He was prepared!

Here's one as things were winding down and the crowd was dwindling:

And, as has been mentioned already - we got the third largest tent award this year. The clubs in first and second place better worry!

There are many to thank, either for bringing food, drinks or raffle giveaway prizes. Thank you for those that helped - it is much appreciated.
The event is getting very large, but it is also getting to be very expensive. A few folks also contributed very generously to the donation box. Thank you, as this helps defray the costs to put this on.

Hope everyone had a good time!

I swung in briefly just to say hi, but as you said you were a one armed paper hanger so I left you swinging... without bothering you.
You wouldn't have bothered me - I would have loved to have you stop by and said hi. Maybe next year, and come for some food too!

I signed the FXBO banner over on the first row. Thats as close as I got.
