PA turnpike :realcrazy::icon_fU::wtf:

During my running around in the rental last summer, I was determined not to pay for the EZpass thing that was in the glove box... that is until I came to the first toll station that forced me to do so...

As Dave said, the turnpike for my run through PA and OH was a big time saver on a trip I spent too much time looking through a windshield in the first place. I'm still not a fan of the experience.

I use toll roads all the way from Pennsylvania to just north of Chicago. It saves a ton of time and gas.....even faster with EZ Pass. Not to mention no need to get off the road for miles hunting down a gas station or a place to pit stop and eat.

Let's not get started with talking about gas taxes paying for road maintenance. PA has one of the highest gas taxes and some of the worst roads, period.
Sorry but no, Michigan roads ARE the worst.

Sorry to hear about all the terrible roads up north. Here in Bama we enjoy long, smooth black ribbons of highway so one can really appreciate what a C body was made to do. Add the sunshine, mild weather and cheap gas ....... Why would anyone live north of Blount county?

On the other hand, it's terrible here, don't come.

anywhere near ****-cago?

Either you do not drive here much, or your roads in New Jersey should be condemned. Many will agree with me that Illinois's roads should be condemned.

In October 13 I drove through the south from Indiana to Missouri....

In 16 I drove through from Indiana to Iowa ... what sucked was the traffic at 4 pm South of Chicago ...
Really nothing noticeably worse than the other 6000 miles.... except Philly

Dang. I saw almost 100 posts for the Carlisle show and thought and thought "this much interest so soon"?
Aahhh, it's a toll way review now.
After looking at the toll road video in post #70, you guys out east must sit in traffic a lot with just 2 lanes.
FWIW, Illinois spends huge dollars on it's roads, and there have been some improvements from before, but now there seems to be a lot more tolls where there used to none! There's one stretch of 10 miles with 6 tolls (Elgin/O'Hare).
I used to keep $20 in change in my car back in the day for the toll booth because I didn't want to get the I-Pass transponder, but after waiting forever in lines at the toll booth just to pay , I finally caved in and got one. Today, if you don't have the I-Pass transponder I believe you will pay double with cash, and still sit in the long lines, so you kind of have to have one now, especially if you do a lot of traveling, and want to keep some of your money.
I've had I-Pass for over 15 years and it does make the drive a little quicker wherever traveling to in the area, but at rush hour....forget about it!

Here's something that will set you guys on fire....

$40 toll for express lane use on I-66 during rush hour in D.C./ Virginia

DC-area drivers blast I-66 tolling system as fees hit $40 mark
