No racing on the fairgrounds. They do have a drag race at Quarter Aces Dragway 1/8th mile track. All Mopar race. They have a continuous shuttle bus that take you to the track. Look at page 7 of last years event directory for details.

The fairgrounds also has a burnout contest. Click on the link. They also have a dyno machine that they'll put anything on and test it for you for a fee.

Watching the burnout contest reminds of the days that my Brother, friends, and I (all Mopar's) would use our Mom's bleach to do funny car burnouts in the alley. Mom had to hide the bleach.
I only get one season out of my rear tires without a burnout contest. Pass....

it puts the Nationals to shame, way more organized and cleaner, just as a whole a better class event. You wont regret coming. Note, there is virtually no nightlife at Carlisle like Brice road or Heath. If you fill your days with the show, you'll be to tired for a nightlife.

Wahoooo! My reservations are made! I'm giving you guys your warning, I'll be there. Made reservations at the Holiday Inn Express in Mechanicsburgh. Looks like it's about 10 miles from Carlisle. Also it's about 10 miles from Harrisburgh which is good because a buddy of mine probably will be flying in to Harrisburgh.
The idea is to melt down a set of junkyard tires.

I'm staying Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. That way I can hit the show all day Fri & Sat. Is there much going on Thursday? If so I can get there early of Thursday.
I usually get there about 7am on Friday.

Set up is Thursday. Actually you can get there earlier in the week and set up but Thursday is the official set up day and the un official start of the event. I get there early Thursday. Not all are set up but you can find stuff early
I've never been there on Thursday.

I try to get there on Thursday. It's the day that the moumentum of the show gets going.... If your looking to buy, sell or trade thats the best time. Some vendors are hoping to recoup expenses right away and others are looking for new inventory to resell. An exciding time for us parts hounds. Some things will be bought and sold several times during the weekend and the price goes up every time.
Plus it frees up Saturday to enjoy the show cars and special exibits.
All thats gone by sunday.

No Will I'm not driving. I'm flying into NY and visiting family and then driving to Carlisle from there. I might have to get there on Thursday to see if I can find the good deals. I guess it'll depend on what I need at the time. By the way guys I will be talking to all of you about painting your cars for you. This will be a business trip for the write offs!
