few more pics...drivers side is done...replaced tabs at rear as they were gone and am having to replace a cpl feet of each side re the rear transom as they were toasted...passengers side lower quarter done and in place,,,am pumped...almost done with this part of the clean up...

oh and tank came in from Rock Auto....Dobalvr dropped it off with the c00kies...thanx for the tank

tanks same as one that came out..2 vent...packed good in box upon arrival...tank covered in protective grease type coating...it can be cleaned off before painting easly with thinner ect...no extra brokerage or hidden charges...am pleased....will shop rock auto again

Don't forget to also install the insulator pad on top of the tank (between the trunk floor and the tank).

Thanx Kindly sir...in all honesty anyone can do this...are lots of things l cant do and only reason l cant is because l haven't been shown how to yet...did the cab corners and lower rocker panels on my 91 gmc 8 years ago and now this..
On the bright side lve finally dialed in my welder and my welding skills from the beginning of replacein panels to now...
have learnt a clean prepped surface makes a big difference and unplugging the heater from same cord as welder made a world of difference...baby steps...
On a positive note finally finished all 10 areas that needed dealing with and all the cancer has been excised ..thank f.........no more close quarters grinding and welding burns
welp only went through 3 light bulbs today...welding slag makes quick work of them...actually shut me down yesterday when l blew last bulb...not alota light in the pit so have a trouble light following me around like a little puppy....
anyway weldings done...pass side lower quarter finished and front of wheel well done,,both pass and drivers side took 3 pieces to fix and mend

both sides were in dire need of this little piece...last piece welded on...did a little jig when that was done...

anyway stoked...no reason l cant wrap this all up over the next week and call it done for now

working on quarters infront and behind divers side and hada kill some time so decided to clean the outside of rear brake drum...hada release park brake to move drum around to get at other side...anyway noticed drum was lose once parking brake was off...usually l gotta fight with these dam things to even get them to move,,,,well this one slid right off with greatest of ease....knew brakes were done at one point but was pleased to see this...

Holy crap critter! Seeing your progress makes me feel like a lazy bugger. That being said, now is my busy time at work. Those torsion bars are a mystery. The seals even look brand new! Even more a mystery, that Y-pipe! Are you sure this was a farmers car? The mud in the quarters adds up as do the dual block heaters. Nothing else does though. Parts delivery and home baked goods? That does it, I'm moving to Calgary. Almost.

was a farmers car for shure...was mud everywhere and he never cleaned it thus the 10 areas l hada deal with the rust....ah well..lucked out on most everything else so countin blessins l guess

Dust everywhere...everywhere....been hand sanding and using a crappy sander when the upstairs nieghbors gone for last couple days and am some glad thier not big areas to do...
all welding ect is done and have both areas in front of pass and drivers side rear wheels done...one last sanding on lower rear quarters and am done with the body work thank gawd..then l can button up both wheelwells and put tank back in and bumper on and l can finally put the beasty back on the ground.
that would leave me with trunk clean up ,1hr, and then l have to spend a day cleaning up the pit...need to get rid of all the dust and make a dust filter for the air outlet into the pit to further control the dust cause after this that pit gona be dust free and clean...is like a bomb went off in a flour bag down there...
few pics,,,front of pass rear tire...not alota room to do what l needed to do but got it done without welding slag blowing up the 25 gals of old gas next to me...guess l subconsciously miss blowing things up

l lucked out..inners were in good shape and outer skins were still there so it was just a mater of replacein the rust and connecting the dots..good beginner's stuff...hopefully the rear wheel well trim fits when they get here or there'll be a few adjustments...
Biggest worry is matching paint...was hopeing to stay with in the rockgard area on lowers but hada go higher to get all the rust in the wheelwells so now lve gotta try to match it all up...car will get new paint eventually but wana try to match it up for now if l can

You'll have to try to blend it to the crease line I'd say, can be done but it isn't too easy to get to the Point without a hard line.

Color matching and panel blending is the toughest thing to do with paint. In different lighting it almost always gives itself away... I suspect your results will look great to everyone, but you will still see it.

With metallic paint you won't get any further than acceptable. On the green solid painted Driver I own I was able to get good results even with a rattle can, painting a whole lower Panel and blending some minor spots.

You'll have to try to blend it to the crease line I'd say, can be done but it isn't too easy to get to the Point without a hard line.

Back mask your tape. It gets rid of a hard line. You can dust over the line once painted if needed.

Your local paint supplier should be able to whip up a spray can of single stage in the correct factory color. It's not like that part of the car gets a lot of sun, so should match up decently.
