I REALLY like this car and thread. Great stuff, very inspirational.
Well, All is back together, wiring is repaired, rad is in. Dennis now runs nice and cool even at idle, and he idles flawlessly now.
Took Dennis to the College car club meeting on Tuesday, shitty turn out, but he rn very well, and is now finally quite reliable.

'74 cast crank 440, standard bore, low mileage, I bought a set of 452 heads for it, will get HP manifolds, Hemi grind Comp cam with matching lifters and Comp double roller timing chain.
Saturday and Sunday will be busy! Saturday I'll be picking up a bunch of parts, then Sunday I'll go get the 440.

Nice to see Dennis getting some love and running well due to your efforts. I imagine the cop that responded to your call was suitably impressed by your efforts. By the way why did you change the heads on the 440?
I got talking to a friend who advised me in the building of my 318, he said for a C body, the best head for torque is the 452, they come already with hardened valve seats, have a closed chamber and are better for low end torque. He figures there's a 99% chance that the '74 440 I'm buying was built with them.
Anyway........Weekend didn't playout exactly as I planned, not that anything does lately........guy couldn't find some stuff, and my 440 seller and I's schedule's clashed. Oh well, he couldn't find the #302 heads or the carb, so he threw in another set of big block heads (#615) for free, $80 later I have a set of 452 heads, an oil pan and another 26" rad.

452 are open chamber with hardened vavle seats and a 90-92 cc as cast on most the free set 615? 915 or 516 are both close chambers, both are good the 915 are better unported than the 516 but the chamber on both is the best.
The second set is a set of 516 heads. He told me 615, after reading your comment I went out to the garage and looked.
Thanks, the whole uniform is the real deal and of the era, the mrs. was working on making calls for work inside, I took the liberty of carving the pumpkins to my liking LOL
