So the above was a test spray for matching purposes, it was urethane. My friend and auto body extraordinaire Ryan wants to use the ONYX line waterborne paint, they didn't have a mix code for the 73 Y6 Golden Haze so I needed a spray out card to scan....plus it gives me a chance to get my feet wet with painting....
I was able to get what their system considered a 43% match....according to my eyes and Ryan's (who's been painting show cars for close to 20 years now) Its a hell of a lot closer....
Work has been incredibly busy the last few weeks, I've been doing 70-80 hour weeks, which has left me little to no time to 5th per on the car. Last weekend being a long weekend here I slipped out to my favorite little yard with my sawsall....
So I know what you're wondering, why did he get another roof, it it really that rotten? No, the roof is rock solid, I bought it for what it still had on it, the car it came off is a 73 PL41 like mine, but was a Y39 Special Order car with the "F38 roof reinforcement", "F41 roof wiring" and "F42 additional dome lamp" (ticket light).... No one will ever see any of it. But I will know.....plugs I have the ticket light and switch from this car.
Progress has been slow, but I have been tinkering along...
I was going to re-use my old rotors, but realized that they were made in china and are who knows how old, I've machined them twice in the time I've owned the car, so I ordered new rotors through one of the places I deal with at work.
I also installed the backing plates I bought last year, as my originals were gone when I got the car, these ones are original, all I did was wash them with some degreaser. They came off a California car.
Also working forward finishing replacing the remainder of the front end stuff.
