I have purchased 2 different sets in the last week on Amazon & both wrong( Raybestos H7116 & Dorman HW7116
O'reilly is stating that H7716 is the correct kit
the black spring is what I took off & the blue spring is what I received......

Will the online catalogs for Raybestos or Dorman have a "Buyer's Guide" section where they illustrate EACH of their spring kits? IF so, that might be a determiner of what is correct and what is not? Same on the hydraulic hoses?

When in Rock Auto, after clicking on the INFO icon, when then on the second page, click on the manufacturer's logo to go to their website and online catalog look-up. Which might, hopefully, have an illustration of what their parts really are. If not, that section in the "back" with the part number and what it is, in pictures and specs.

Just some thoughts,

Over the past year or two when buying some parts from rockauto I'd browse through the brake spring kits not just for Mopar but also ford and gm. They were only a few bucks each and I bought the ones that looked like they'd be useful, comparing them to what I see in the factory manual.

I had an idea of replicating what I saw in the manual. So here's what the (1967 Monaco/Polara) manual shows, and below that is what my front brakes look like:

The brakes are slightly energized, the primary shoe is shown as slighly in motion here. That's what I was hoping for - that when pressing the brake pedal that the primary shoe would reliably move first in accordance with the "servo" theory of drum brake operation.

I also have a variety of hold-down nails, differing by length, I find the longest of them somewhat uncommon but I think they fit / work the best for these shoes (yes they are 11 x 2.75).

The blue spring is the one to use. Google "NOS Mopar brake springs" and I'll bet you'll see they look like the blue one and not the black one.

I don't know if it will help or not, but, I show the factory spring number as 2260789 and the hose being 2534613.
