I recently picked up a 70 New Yorker 4 door car for a parts doner for my 70 300 2 door (many thanks to azblackhemi). Super clean south west car. My two compadres who are the body guys are now thinking it would be a better move to transplant the upper part of my car on to the lower part of the doner car.
I have followed the 60 Fury build on Cold War Motors youtube channel so I know its doable. Any thoughts, opinions would be appreciated.

Anything is doable with enough cash but you are crazy if you think it's sensible.
Seriously. Are you versed in A, B, and C pillars?

No money involved. We all help each other as we can. My car needs the floor and some of the attachment points for the stub replaced. while the rest is not horrible it's nowhere near as solid as the 4 door. They say it's not much more work ( for them ) and end up with a more solid car.

The 2DR and the 4DR cars have different roof profiles, also different if the cars are sedans vs hardtops. A roof switch can be done, but start with the correct roof from a similar car with the same features.

Ever wonder about all of the time that was not included in the YouTube videos that's not seen? Many of those videos and "build" shows make it look easy, but ever notice how much fab stuff they have lining the walls of their studio shops? But then some things are easier for some to do that for others, equipment or not. BTAIM

Kind of sounds like you're going to "build" the wrong car to me. If the NY is that solid, why cut it? Build IT instead, making it a 300, by transfering the good 300 items to it. Remember, too, that the integrity of the UniBody depends upon good welds. If all you need is a solid floor, get those items specifically and replace just that. Which is why it might be better to end up with a solid 4dr "300" by swapping exterior sheet metal and such onto the NY body.

Your money, time, dreams, etc.

Enjoy!

There's a 300H build on here somewhere that does a similar cut and paste. Search for it and I think it will help.

I thought about doing the yorker up as a three hundred. There is no title for that car and here in ohio that's a big deal. Also while the metal is excellent, the interior is not. The interior from the two door is an 8 on a scale of 10. All the power windows are dead in the 4 door as well. We are still considering all of it. Guess I need to make a pro and con list.

It looks like he hasn't been on here in a while.

Yeah, last update I've seen was when it came back from the paint booth, July 2019. Looks fantastic here...wonder what it looks like now?

Yes that is my car above. I used the trunk and cowl as well as the trunk gutter from the 4 door. You would have to use your outer rockers etc as those are 2 door specific of course. If you have any questions feel free to message me.
I haven’t posted any updates as it did not get much feedback so I figured most weren’t interested.

I was really interested and I think I speak for others that were too.

Your project was inspiring and showed a method that wasn't conventional, but was very sound in its method and execution. I'd love to see more.

I read the entire thread on your car. I'm now confident we will be doing something similar. I've been on vacation this week. Working on putting a 10 x 24 lean to on the back of my garage so I have somewhere to put all the pieces while we work. Had to move my 69 Charger from behind there and store it on top of the trailer

Are you kidding? You didn't get any feedback because we were ALL holding our breath and waiting for the next installment of your fantastic endeavor. We're so interested in your efforts that we have zero "feedback" to give you.

We just wanna watch!
