When I got my 67 Newport a couple weeks ago it pulled to the right under hard braking. I assume the right front brake needed adjustment. On a short ride yesterday, all of a sudden it is pulling severely to the left instead. The left front drum was hot so I took of the tire and checked it. It wasn't seized up or anything, and turned freely. Am I to assume that it overheated because the other side simply quit working and now it is being overworked? There are no leaks, and the brake pedal feels nice and firm, not spongy. I should add that I have a recent receipt for brake work which includes new wheel cylinders and lines. My question is, how can one brake just quit working, if there is no leak in the system? There is no grinding or anything. I plan to take a look at the right front side today.

Take it back and let them deal with it. You paid to have it done right so it's their responsibility to do just so. Can't be going around behind every place that works on your car to make sure things are done "above board".

It sounds like the left front drum is glazed. This is probably a good opportunity to have both front brake drums turned, or replaced if they can't be turned. A factory service manual will also show you if the shoes were properly assembled.
