Hey man I was told way back when that if you start removing stuff from the interlock system and you don’t open the steering column and disarm the locker arm it can go off and LOCK the steering column WHILE you’re driving!!!!!!!!!!
Those rods shouldn’t just be hanging loose in there. Somebody else chime in and confirm this true or not true as I’d hate to see anybody have that happen out on the road. I’ve never tried to disable those column interlocks since I heard this. Old timers will remember this as ‘70’s news stories of “the column suddenly locked & off the bridge cliff etc they went...” be careful.
You can take the accelerator cable to an old school bike shop and have it custom fit to length for your new 4bbl. We did this at a Harley type shop back in the 80’s when new cables were made of unobtainium. It works.
