Finally my own '70 Sport Fury GT

Thanks! The goal for now is to go through the mechanicals, fix the roof rust & put a new top on, leaving the original paint as is. I have a million other projects to get done so I want it to remain driveable & enjoy it for the time being.

and there is still one more to show up after the snow is gone :D

Great plan. Congratulations!

One thing always leads to another, but you’re right, no need to go full blown rotisserie resto, sometimes they just need tlc, and a trunk floor of course.
:)

Congratulations on buying this great car! Were the floor mats with floral patterned inserts included when you received the GT?

First it's a real '71 Fury police car NOW it's a '70 GT, you Charles are a VERY lucky guy! I noticed your avatar/screen name picture was the hood stripes and I'm thinking to myself, what happened to the convertible picture and "he has a GT?". Now I know, you were giving us a hint. I so remember this GT too and although I'm not really a green on green guy, I was drooling over it as I do with all GT's but I remember the price being a bit high. Glad you got it for the price that you were comfortable with and will get it back on the road. I didn't know the car had so much history, and interesting too that the build sheet says PP and not PH but the fender tag says PH. Looks like it's got some good options too. I am DEFINITELY following this one as I am a HUGE GT fan, and hope to see it at Carlisle.

Hey that would be an idea, have a gathering of the 70-71 GTs and see how many can get to Carlisle. You bring your new GT Charles if it's ready, Mr. Wheeler with the B7 blue 6 bbl will probably come if the border is open, maybe Billyfury can bring one of his GT's, and maybe if Trev is interested in bringing one of his too. Man that would be somethin I'd like to see

Anyways Congratulations & best of luck with it, please keep us updated on the progress.

Wow, there is hope for future generations to carry the torch. Thanks for stepping up, and congratulations on another impressive addition to your fleet.

The largely untouched reality of your car was its best selling point to me at least. The lack of a/c in my case for out in the sunny West was one reason I didn't consider this car (plus I don't need another one) but if I had realized that the aftermarket radio stuffed in the dash was actually supposed to be an AM/FM stereo from the factory, I would have increased my estimate of the worth of the car! Rare option indeed on a Plymouth.

Having so much provenance on the car is worth something as well - that adds a lot too.

I hope you enjoy bringing it back according to your plans. The right guy bought the car at what appears to have been a good price.

Your initial photo of the car is so much better than the unflattering ones in the listing. Much nicer looking now given it is shown emphasizing the highlights of this great looking vehicle (maybe you could just close the hood on the next round - :poke:). Great outcome!.

I didn't know that radio was a rare option, I learned something today. I think Charles should be a photographer, he takes some pretty good pictures

Agree. I always look at the R codes on fender tags for something other than R11 lol

Congrats on a really nice Plymouth! Those pictures with the original owner are neat too!

The original radio & exhaust tips are the only 2 major things missing from the car. The son said the father never threw away anything so there is a good chance they have them boxed up somewhere. If not, I already have a lead on a replacement AM/FM stereo radio thanks to one of our well known members. Original GT tips might be impossible to find so if anyone has any leads for them I'll gladly pay up!

Someone mentioned the floor mats. Yes it does have a full set of dealer accessory Patternique mod mats in it! They will be cleaned up & put right back in the car!

Cool! One learns something new every day on this board. Great to have these mats, which are worth their weight in gold apparently:

Edit: @71Polara383 is teasing me that those red/yellow Patternique mats would be great on Medina as the color would work with the current burgundy and the original GY9 Dark Gold (Tawny Gold for P/C/Y folks). Indeed, they were available in 1971 too (@cm23uoc gets the credit for posting the link to the Hamtramck Historical page).

Like any 50 year old Northeast car, it'll need quarters & a trunk floor. But the frame rails, rockers, & majority of the underneath is still very solid & workable with. Honestly a lot better shape then I was anticipating.

She looks to be in much better shape than most presumed. Much like Wyatts convertible you had the vision.

What a cool little bonus to get with the car.

I’ve found a lot of cool stuff in the trunk of old cars, air Grabber air cleaners, vacuum cleaners, mag wheels, intakes, etc
