My temp is holding at a steady 195. I don't have cooling issues, but I was planning on flushing out the motor as I don't know when it was done before. Some of my freeze plugs will be replaced as well as they look bad...
So while I have it all apart, I hear very good things about this water pump, even for daily drivers.

My plan is as follows...
Replace intake manifold tray with Fel-pro that has the heat channels blocked. My heat riser is safetied open anyway.
New upper/lower hoses
Flush out entire cooling system...block, rad, heater core
Scrape and clean all housings inside and out. Paint.
Re-gasket
New freeze plugs
New 180 thermostat.
New temp sender for stock gauge
Refill with distilled and Mopar friendly coolant

The "while I'm there" list is as follows...
Replace water pump with new FlowKooler unit.
Replace thermostat with 180 high flow
Replace WP housing with aluminum housing.

So I'm open to some thoughts on the idea of changing out my original stock WP for this FlowKooler unit and what the benefit is to running an aluminum housing verses the stock iron...aside from the weight savings. Is it better just to leave the stock WP manifold?

Thanks as always.

I have one one my car. It replaced a Mancini high flow on an aluminum housing, cant tell any difference.
It ended up my car needs a 4 row radiator, it also has a high flow stat.
Seems well built though.

:realcrazy: If you're not having problems why are you changing it? Maybe pull the pump to make sure the impeller is in good shape and reinstall. Actually since it's cooling good I cannot imagine that there would be a problem.

Hahahaha...I'm not crazy. The car has 85k on it, I've rebuilt everything else that gives me reliability, I was thinking of doing this not saying I will. I needed some advice whether this is a good product.

That's why I said I will be removing everything, cleaning it and painting it...and putting on new gaskets as the main plan.

Just looking for some extra cooling for my gal. That's it. And I don't think that's a crazy thing to think about.

Had one on my wife's '67 440, excellent product. I have one on the shelf now for my '69.

Did you keep your original housing? Any issues with the fit?

The water pump housing? All original. The pump bolts right up like a stocker, no issue at all. The big deal is the anti-cavitation disc they add. This car doesn't really need that, I just wanted a quality pump, not Cardone rebuilt junk.

I feel the same. I don't have any issues with cooling, but it's to be expected that I will. The water pump, from what I can see, appears to be original. So when I open it up, I'll decide then...but I'm really leaning towards swapping it out. I didn't think I needed the housing, seems like a waste of money when all you get is a savings of 10 pounds which is nothing to our Aircraft Carrier size cars.

Thanks for the input
