I just bought a 63 newport with a 361. The car has 83k miles on it, I was going to add a 4 bbl carb and a cam.

My questions are,

What CFM would you guys go with? 650? I was thinking edelbrock 650? Any other suggestions.

As far as the cam goes, I want to keep the bottom end stock, and this car will definitely be a cruiser, so what would you recommend?

I appreciate everyone's help!

Get an Edelbrock 1406, it's 600 CFM 4 bbl with an electric choke. That is plenty of carb for a 361. Edelbrock doesn't make a 650 CFM carb but Holley does. You will need the carb linkage adapter and maybe a manifold mounting plate adapter depending on what manifold you are going to use.

Thanks for the information. I wondered if 600 would be enough. I had one on my 318 and it did really well.

I intend to use the weiand action plus intake on it. Which carb linkage adapter and mounting bracket will I need?

I have 600's on both of my 400's. Plenty of carb.
