Going through my parents pictures...

What happened to the Vette?

Gramps bought it solely as an investment. I believe it was just a few years before he retired that he sold it , making a small profit, to the local radio station that was doing some kind of giveaway promotion. The broke dick that won the contest couldn't even afford the taxes on his win and had to sell it. LOL. After that, no idea. It was nothing special at all, just a 76 (if I recall) basic Vette.

Damn......two tags? Any idea where the car is now?
No. Unfortunately, I sold it to my uncle in 1978 when I was short of money and my wife was 8 months pregnant. Took him three years to pay and by then I didn't need the money anymore,,, but, the car was gone. (Faint of heart don't read any further) He mixed all the partial cans of paint in his garage together and painted it....... It turned out to be a kind of puke olive green, grey, brown..... color.... He put a set of 6 foot long horns on the hood, shag carpet and big chrome mudflaps... then traded it to some guy for a 73 or so Chevy pickup........ Last I knew, the car was on Fort Sill Oklahoma in about 1981............ Probably used for artillery practice after being abandoned on the post bu some GI. I wish every day that I had kept that car........... Lots of fond memories, right up until..............
Some of the options were 440 TNT, 323 limited slip rear, power front seats, AM/FM stereo with 8 track, electric locks, windows, tilt/tele steering wheel, dual outside mirrors....... 12-28-2012 10;25;27 PM.jpg

depressing is right Bryan........and of all time to read it, just after eating dinner...I hope it doesn't come back up. Let's hope someone saw what it was and saved it. And now that we are on the subject, anyone ever notice than when you mix several colors together - no matter what they are - you end up with a disgusting shade of green or brown, every freaking time? Funny, 2 tags but it has hubcaps on it.......not road wheels.

I've had some nice cars too, same thing though, my situation at the time didn't dictate me keeping them. Now I had to push for the second car I wanted----time is getting short, every month I hear of someone I know getting sick so I am going to try to enjoy life before it is my turn.

My wife saw me outside looking into the garage the other day at the cars and she said I looked 'giddy'..............all I could say was, it's abt time. I finished my answer off with a "I haven't been this happy since you said yes." That brought me some brownie points!

yup........for once my brain kicked in @ the right time. Of course she, like most people, doesn't understand how anyone could be so excited over what is in my garage.

You are a car guy that lives in Carlisle ............ you GOTTA be the happiest guy on the planet, and now with TWO nice old cars

nice????? i'll give you that on the Polara but the GP looks like a junker

Funny, 2 tags but it has hubcaps on it.......not road wheels.

The road wheels made avaliable in 1969 for B & C bodys were recalled in Sept of 68 and very few cars hit the road with them. I'm not sure if any 300's got them. They all got the wheel covers.

I concider myself very fortunate in that Ellie totally understands and encourages the "garage content syndrome".

I think Lydia will too if my demeanor changes.
