Headman headers

What mod is required to the box?
It was "in the way." A race buddy of mine said, "Well, move your steering to the left (or right depending on where you;re looking). It's been done." Not by me.... There was no clearance issue on the passenger side.

These things are very well built. A lot heavier construction then the Hedman's we put on the Gremlin.

Here's the ones that fit in my fury. Notice tho significant clearancing to fix burnt wire syndrome.

They are roughly 1.75" outside diameter. No lack of bottom end torque using them, all goodness.

I have a set of the Schumacher Tri-Y Headers, perfect fit, great sound and performance but I think they have quit making them. I have also used the TTI Headers for the C Body, excellent product and fit and their exhaust system is great too but not cheap. Headmans look interesting if they will fit a C Body correctly.
Can’t find the tri-y headers know where

I have these mid length Hedmans on my 440 with mini starter. Most mods can then be done on the exhaust instead of headers. There is a dimple on the exhaust to clear the drivers torsion bar. Drivers side is very close to steering box.

Yupper, power steering. I had to add a heat shield cuz it was cooking the PS gaskets. They are uncoated and getting pretty rusty.

PO put in the engine. I talked with him. Said no issues other than you need some someone with exhaust skill and even then they dimpled the 3" exhaust and I put some header wrap on the drivers torsion bar for insurance plus i would get a rattle with spirited driving. Passenger side no issues. But hearing about everyone's mods, admittedly not with these particular ones, I wonder if PO was honest. I see no signs of bending, welding, or BFH usage. If you have a wide brake booster that might be an issue. My stock power drum midland ross was maybe 2" away. My newer bendix dual diaphragm is even father away. Look at column shifter for clearance too. Mine was but is now floor shifter so never paid attention.

And plug wires might need to be rerouted. Mine stick out more than I would like but are probably needed. Some tighter bends would be nice for all but the rear 2 plugs

I found some more references to these headers - search for 78070. Pretty good results. For the heat shield I used plain old roof flashing on a roll found in HD or Lowes. Made a cardboard model and cut it out. On the front - header facing - face I covered it with this High heat "Lava" shield product. I knew it was going to be no more than 1" from the header so went for better stuff then just foil faced. Anyway I folded the Lava fabric over the edges of the flashing and then cut out another piece of flashing to sandwich the edges of the fabric. So now I have 2 layers of flashing and it better for stiffness. I pop riveted the 2 pieces together as you can see in the pics but before I did I cut 2 slits in the back flashing. I then fished a really big hose clamp in those slits and then the hose clamp then fit AROUND the power steering pump. You can see it in the pic...painted black. Its real sturdy, doesn't blow in the wind. Has not browned or melted in anyway. You cant see it much but it is obviously not stock. I suppose you could paint the whole thing black. The paint might burn off i guess. I found a cheaper version of this lava shield here. Oh and I also have a cheap power steering cooler but not sure its even needed now.

If I'm following this correctly, TTI makes the best big block c body header but they only work with an RB motor, not a B motor. I have plans to put a 383 in a C body 68 Chrysler and it looks to me from reading above that the B body shorty headers from Hedman should slip right in. I'm a newbie to this site and to a C body mopar so any further advice will be appreciated.
