Hey. Iv'e been a Mopar guy since switching over from Buick/Old/Pontiac in my early teens. I loved the 66 Newport my mom had when I was a youngster, and the 66 Coronet we got when I was 15 sealed it. (although there were several buicks, pontiacs, and an olds in between)

I'm mstly a A/B body guy, but I've also had a 73 E body.

The reason I joined, is that I find some pretty nice looking C bodies fom time to time...and recently i found one I'm thinking about (wince) flipping.

Before all the hatin' starts, here's my plan:

It's a 67 Fury III 2 door hardtop.

Asking price is 1500 OBO, and the seller is motivated.
Factory red/red int, 318, a/c.
It's super straight, but the paint is way faded, the owner says there is "some bondo, and the tunk is rusty".
The trunk appears to have just surface rust on the floor.
...and the trans is toasted. The seats need recovered as well.

My brother in law is a pretty good painter, and I've been after him to help me learn how. This sounds like a good project for that.

I can likely get a trans for $100 or less.

Might even be able to fix the a/c with junkyard parts.

I think i could do a decent quality job and still make a little if I asked $4000-$5000.

Let's just say this is the budget-
Car- $1000
Trans- $100
Paint- $500
Seats- $500

You guys think a running, driving, shiny red, straight body 67 Fury III is worth that?

First off, welcome to the site from the Motor City!
2nd, I would have to imagine the paint materials are going to cost more then $500. That being said the car probably still wouldn't be a money maker, in fact I think you'd lose on it.
Just my .02

Is it in Florida now?
Is it the Fast top or the regular hardtop.
It's always better when pictures are posted.

Welcome to the board...........

No, you'll be upside down before you know it. A 318 Fury III with a bench seat, its a labor of love not of financial recovery.

It's a good thought though! Until I hung out on this sight for a while I would have thought it possible. The other thing is the costs that you're not planning for which would be minimally 20%.

Int 2.jpgDS.jpgT.jpgIt's just the standard top. I wish it was a fast top.

So no one thinks a shiny red, running, driving, straight, clean, 67 Fury III is worth 5K?

I will add that I am about 40% through a driver resto on my 66 coronet, and I'm dead on my budget for that car.

The last time I priced paint for it, I was at $250 using Nason's, and that included the consumables.

Wow, this photo tool is way not like the old version.

I also have this from colletorcarmarketreview.com, which matches up pretty well with my personal experience-

I figure I'm taking it from between #4 and #5 to between #3 and #4.

The car is less than 5 min from my house.

I wonder if power leather seats from a red 5th Ave would help/hurt the value.

I see those almost every time I go junkyarding. In fact I have some in my backyard right now.

...but seats are bolt-ons (ins?) and the originals can be inclded in the sale.

So, no one thinks a shiny red 67 Fury is worth $4500?

What would anyone say a realistic value would be?

I've found the value guide I posted to be fairly close, with some exceptions.

Your enthusiasm and vision are admirable; but I think you would be hard pressed to get $4500. C body cars are not like their A,B,E,...and so on brethren. It is definitely a labor of love w/ no sure fire financial, rational, or logical way to monetarily quantify or explain it. That's NOT to say you can't get your goal price - someone may come along and fall in love with the car and the work you've proposed to undertake....perhaps another c body guy or soon to be, but unlike the A,B, and E body guys we C body people are far and few.

Every $ put in that takes away from the original devalues the car $2.

In general I agree. I bought my 73 Satellite because it was mostly unmolested.
The second owner made some mods, but they were taseful and nothing I wouldn't have done myself.
15" Keystones, aluminized dual exhaust, conversion to r134, and front and rear sway bars.

Since it's not a 90 or even 80 point show car (although it is a 98% rust free, 55,000 mile survivor), I would argue that those additions actually increase the value. Further, they are for the most part bolt ons, and could be reversed (but aside from the wheels, why would you want to?).

I have since done a few more "upgrades" I removed the bench seat, and replaced it with original 1973 buckets and buddy seat, installed an OEM tuff wheel, and (this part was kinda hard since it's kinda irreversable) installed rallye mirrors.
Again I would argue that I have actually incresed the value.

I did caress the virgin sheet metal on the door prior to drilling for the passenger side mirror.

Lol!
It deserved at least that!

I'll do upgrades or mods for safety or common sense on my car. I don't plan on selling any of my cars anymore. I have all of the old parts so whoever ends up with it after I'm gone will have most of the parts to restore it.

Not the one you are talking about putting together....if you doubt us look at the for sale threads, be warned...you'll need thick skin
