Couple of weeks ago some a**hole hit the polara and didn’t leave any notice or anything that coward wherever he or she may be! Anyway it is what it is so now I am going to attempt to pull this dent out I’m thinking of trying those suction cups and give it a nice measured pull see if it can get most of it back to “straight” if need be I will remove the door panel and push it out . I don’t expect it to be perfect so let’s see. Anyone have any recommendations on how to approach this ? I was also going to wait for a nice warm day hope that will help some .Also will have to play with the hinge a bit or install some new bushings as the door now sags a bit

About the only thing I can tell you is when trying to push it out start on that lower body line. If you push on the upper part of the dent first the body line will hold it in and you'll stretch the metal. Good luck and sorry it happened to you.

Will do, thanks for the tip !

Deflate a basket ball slide it in the door and inflate it. I've never done it, but I watched others with pretty good results.

That sucks, I'm sorry that happened. Maybe inquire with your local paintless dent removal franchise, they can do some amazing things. Good luck!

Do this, all you or I would do is screw it up worse.
there is a science about how this is done.

You may need to talk to several of them. Many don't do old cars as the metal is too thick for their tools and experience.

Yes that totally sucks as there was no prior damage to that door.

That really sucks Cesar / 68PolaraSGV ,

I guess the ONLY positive is that they didn’t get the door AND fender , although they came seriously close….

Good Luck with the repair… Your car is waaaaay too nice to leave it that way , unfortunately….

What an inconsiderable act… Any chance of Cameras and Footage where you were parked at the time ????

Yours, Craig…..

I went ahead and used one of those suction cups and it pulled the big dent out where the larger surface area of the dent was . I tried the bottom of it (under the body line) but it was just too tight and it didnt budge. Looks better then before but I will try working the smaller dents from the inside out while trying to over shoot and making it worse lol
Craig, I do have a video that my neighbor provided as my camera didn’t get the angle of it but the video that he has I couldn’t make out the license plate, the resolution wasn’t too good and the sun was beaming right at the camera to make things worse. It looked to be a 2010-2013 Honda accord . I went around searching my neighborhood for cars alike and seeing if any of them had a dent or scuffs on the rear passenger side bumper/ tail light area but no luck….I know it’s just a car but man that had my blood boiling. The polara is not a “throw away” car like that Honda accord is…

It is waaaaaay more than “ just a car “ indeed…. It is certainly understandable that your blood was boiling … it probably still is…..

Especially that a P.O.S. ( Piece of **** ) Honda Freakin’ Accord ‘ Hit and Runned ‘ you…..and ran like a little scared beetle…..

Talk to you later , Yours, Craig….

Give the video to your insurance, at least then they will see you had no fault. There are dent removers that work on classic metal.

Look into getting a dash cam with parking mode and a rear cam (often called 'dual channel'). Mine paid for itself when some moron wasn't paying attention, merged in behind me and love tapped me while we were waiting at a light. Pulled over into a side street because I hate it when people just get out in the middle of a busy main road to exchange info, looked behind me to see he wasn't even there...he drove off.
Rear 720p camera caught his plate nice and clear, the funniest bit of it was the way he stuck his hand out over the dash in an "oh **** i'm so sorry" gesture then immediately balling it into a fist and shaking it as if to say "YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT!"
Anyway, made a claim with my insurer and gave them the video. About three months later I get an email saying my claim payment had been refunded. It didn't actually leave any damage aside from very minor paint transfer so I never bothered fixing it up, but I like to imagine that that guy's premiums shot through the roof for a while.
If you don't mind it recording audio, leave it on and get into the habit of reading out plate numbers, especially at night - cameras already suck at recording night time video, add to this movement from driving, glare from headlights etc. and it's nigh impossible to get plate numbers unless you get incredibly lucky and conditions are perfect. The microphone still picks up audio just fine however...

When pulling dents, rule of thumb...first in last out.

That is sad the people do something like that and don’t have moral honesty to report it, some accidents do happen! I have had that happen to me on 3 different vehicles, my srt challenger front fender, 75 New Yorker rear quarter, distroyed my fender skirt and my 76 coronet cop car look alike rear door. No one fessed up. I feel for you, hope you will get it done right again. People just don’t care anymore.

That's just people. Culture has changed in the U.S. but the human tendency was always there. I like to think we were raised better than that. Mistake may have been making things too easy for kids.
