I'll have to disagree with you on certain issues. As FCBO grows, its demographics has changed drastically. In the beginning, FCBO was made up for the most part of "older" members (how you want to define "older" is up to you and is admittedly subjective). Imperical observation tells me the median age of members here has dropped dramatically. Not to sound demeaning, but the topics of new threads proves that to me.
When I used to log in, I would read every new or updated thread eagerly. Now, I look at the list of new and unread threads when I Iog in and I feel like I am back at Moparts and for the most part skip right over a lot of them. Particularly when they are non auto related. I understand the need for a little diversification from the auto hobby but it's getting a tad more than I am comfortable with.
Should there be more moderation to maintain the focus of what FCBO was created for? F*** NO! The non restrictive openess was what made FCBO grow. But now I'm afraid it is going to be it's downfall. But I don't want to change a thing. If it does go in a new direction, so be it. An alternative is always waiting in the wings to fulfill the original need.
Just like why FCBO was created and grew originally.
As FCBO demographics change and the subject matter changes with it, somebody will start a forum called For C-body Old Men Who Wear Hats Only.
And I'll join it the first day.
Well written Stan !!!! I love being a part of FCBO it reminds me of when Mass Mopar was in it's hay days before their top dog "TAD" passed away. It was a fun site with a good mix of everything not just a bunch of old wrench spinners talking only shop. I for one will always speak my mind as I always do. I also can really care less if someone does not like what I post or disagrees with what I post please feel free to express that to me as I will do the same to you and without the essence of a bad attitude. At the end of the day we all have the same common links here and we know what they are. Our love & passion for our cars and being able (or at least should be able ) to talk and discuss anything without getting our panties in an uproar. Life's highway is way to short to exit off of the first off ramp.
