Yeah it seems like no one caught what the White House said. Went along the lines of we need to reduce the size of our fighting force so we're keeping the best of the best and sending the notices out to everyone now. It includes soldiers that are currently fighting. To me it's a way to demoralize the troops still fighting. How shitty is that? You're in country, fighting, hear we're keeping the best of the best, and suddenly you get a notice they're letting you go. How likely would you be to go out and fight?

Hate to say it but I would never join our armed forces today. NOT because I have anything against them, but because of who ultimately is calling the shots. I dont want to be part of a captive social engineering experiment.
 
With the crap our school system are putting out today, they STILL are better off doing mandatory Military Service right out of school. Teach every punk kid, boy and girl, discipline and respect. So what if all the girls come out Lesbians. It's still all for the better for American society!!!

It is and education system, for good or bad. But the best one there is. EFF Harvard and Stanford......

Actually anymore, I'd agree with 70NPORT, it's just another social experiment. Nation building with our military, pish posh. Our military isn't supposed to be nation building. It's supposed to be nation wrecking. Isn't that the job of a military?

There was an interesting book review on C-Span2 Book TV called "In Hoffa's Shadow" by Jack Goldsmith. I thought it was quite interesting and thought you might think so too.

I think it will still air again the next couple of werkends.

The author on the C-Span book is the stepson of Chuckie O'Brien. He was a Yale Law school grad that worked at the highest level of the FBI. He thinks that Chuckie O'Brien was innocent of any involvement with Hoffa's demise.
 
Readin the book now and i would recommend it to anyone who lived it, especially those of us that were in our early 20's when it was going on and not paying close attention. The fights with Bobby Kennedy, the accusations by Sheeran about Joe kennedy's connections to the mob and then Jack & Bobby turning on them after the election- i don't remember any of that from the time, but i do from remember reading much about JFK hanging with Sinatra and other from LV and their connections, especially to Sam Giancanna with whom JFK supposedly shared a mistress, and who supposedly won Chicago for JFK using names from cemeteries for voters. Fascinating reading, hope the movie is half as good.
