Hoffa screwed over the people he was supposed to be representing and bankrupt the union by loaning all that money to the em oh be.
Btw, Hoffa worked for a rich company called the Teamsters union. Too many people are brainwashed by the union mantra.
Before anyone goes off, I am a former IAM &AW member, steward and bargaining committee member.
You may thi k he was helping but he screwed a lot of people under that premise.
As for the military drawdown they didn't keep the best and brightest. They kept the lower ranking (lower paid) and dumped more senior troops, especially those about to be promoted or retire. They dumped a lot of salary and pension costs. They also dumped a lot of experienced and highly trained people.
Some were lucky and were able to retire before 20 years but at lower pay.
