How rare is a 2 door 73 Monaco?

Fusey and Formal Monacos are far more rare than Slabs. I love the look of these cars (especialy the wagons with the "groovy" woodgrain treatment) and prefer the rear taillight treatment of the 72 to that of the 73.

I have to agree I like the tail lights on the '72

I think there may be more of them in Finland than the US.

We love these Monaco's here, so someday that could be true... Don't worry, they will survive here and be very well taken care of until you guys buy them back! lol

.... I also read that they had a police set-up/package for the Monaco but it was rare too.

very likely the '72-'73 Monaco (though the "official" Dodge C offering was the Polara) could be had with Police packages but I personally have never seen one. had i seen one for sale i would have tried to buy it for sure.

when the monaco went back to hidden headlights ('76-'77) some fleets found that a dissatisfier and just removed headlight doors entirely.

dunno if that was a reason we dont see '72-'73 "Monaco" squads OR because there just weren't any made at all in deference to the Polara.

Never heard of 72-73 Monaco's used by any PD. Later hidden headlight Monaco's were usually doors stripped (like you can see in the Hill Street Blues theme). I'm sure they would have used cheaper Polara's if the model line hadn't discontinued...

Is that Scotts old car Fred?

I don`t believe so. The owner 2 years ago said it was ex-fire chief`s car.

Thats what Scott had said about his.... He sold his about 12 years ago

Following the posts above, there was discussion about the slick Red coupe possibly being ex-FD.

If it was or wasnt an FD is not my point, but rather that FD's as fleet buyers could also get police-spec full-size cars. My '74 Monaco was such a car and it used to be "red" (a prior owner did it up in Spinnaker white)

Yes, '74 isnt '72 as I thought the Polara was the only C-body Dodge the A38 package was available in 1972.

I was not concluding that an A38 "Monaco" didnt get built in 1972 or 1973... all kinda stuff got built in the old days and fleet buyers go some leeway. But, like you, I just never seen/heard of a such a Monaco.
