I found my imperial!!

mhh I´m not an expert on that.. I´ld pull´em and have a closer look wether there are any pits or marks inside
the cylinders ..

Yeah I'm not 100% on what can fly with the condition of the cylinders, but I'm this far already lol. I'll grab a pic of a few when I get home to see what you guys think?

Here we go! It always starts small...before you know it you'll be into a full restoration! Not that that's a bad thing...this beauty deserves it.

I'm seriously only gonna redo the drivetrain at this point lol. I've got another car being fully restored already! Here's some pics of the worst cylinders.

Might, MIGHT, clean up with a hone, but it might be loose if you have to hone it multiple times. Looks like a .020 should clean it up if you can find pistons. You did the right thing, it would have smoked pretty good with the corrosion in the bores. Heads look nice and clean from the pictures. Great car, good luck with the project.

Thanks for all of the kind comments guys. I pulled the engine/transmission out. Carefully labeling everything. I have a lot going at the moment. But I'm gonna be tearing the 440/727 down this winter. Hoping to have it all back together next summer.

Also took this time to clean up the engine bay a little bit. I don't wanna dig to far this time lol. I'm sticking to my original statement of doing the engine/transmission at this point lol.

I kinda like that 57 Lincoln in the background too! I had a 56 Premiere awhile back.
thanks! I've actually got three of these 57 premieres. Great cars! They are my cheap Chrysler 300 lol.

I do have a redone set of heads from a 73 440 casting is 999 I believe or something like that. But I am having the 440 and 727 from this rebuilt. I just bought a house last month so it's been put on hold for a bit.

yup I plan on that as well. It's not going to be a full restoration yet. But it definitely deserves it down the road after I get some years of enjoyment the way it is!

Just a little update on the car. I recently bought a house so most of my projects have been in hold. But on the plus side the house came with a decent sized pole shed so the imperial will never sit outside again. Spotted a 70 imperial 4 Dr for parts on Facebook a few weeks ago and secured a nearly mint front bumper and a very presentable front grill. As well as a mint set of will trim! Also scored a driver's mirror. And as much trim and hardware as I could pull off. The car was very rusty and heading for a derby sad to say. But it's parts will live on and help me fix up mine. More to come!

I just read this post from the beginning. You mentioned that your couple was originally owned by a dealer in western MN. I was curious if you knew which dealer that may have been? I'm from western MN. so I remember many of the dealers from back in the day.

I'll have to ask the guy I bought it from again. He lived in browerville MN. So I believe the dealership was in that area. I'd love to know if the original owner is still around!
