Congratulations Fury1 what a fine, fine FUSELAGE! It’s been hard to even look at FCBO since my ‘71 flew the coop . . . looks like you are doing an EXCELLENT job on your restoration, BRAVO

So I've decided to go a different route with the imperial just in the light of getting it on the road again. We all heard about that massive Chrysler auction in southern MN. Unfortunately I had too many projects to bid on a car, but definitely could use a running 440 for my imperial. So this is what I came home with last weekend. Plucked from a 68 imperial that "ran and drove" two years ago. I'm still going to minimum regasket the engine and take a look at the 727. But this give me hope that it will be driving this fall.

Started to strip down the 440. Gonna get it on an engine stand so I can degrease it properly and start regasketing everything. Pulled the front rotors/calipers/dust shield off. Going to drop some stuff off this week to get sandblasted. As well as ordering a lot of new brake parts.

Hey guys. Mopars in the park was a few weeks ago and I ran into a guy who sold me a 66 fury parts car like 10 years ago. Anyways he told me he had a few cars he was thinking of selling. One if them being a 70 imperial lebaron! Of course I was interested! I went and looked at it today and I knew right away it was coming home with me!! It's In overall pretty good shape. 99% complete. Been in his garage since the 80s. Front bumper and fender are tweaked a bit from a fender bender. Nothing I can't deal with. A few rust spots here and there as well, but it's MN so I'm not surprised.paint is also. But the price was absolutely right for me! I'll be posting a lot more on this car when I pick it up on the 25th. And I'm also gonna be posting up my red 65 sport fury project for sale as well to help fund this!

Good score there. . . Good luck with the H53. . .

That is one sweet Imperial! Keep up the progress pics.
Are you still rebuilding the original motor to the Imp?

On another note, I see in the back ground an ev2 70 barracuda with the M46 black out on the bottom. No factory stripe though. Any chance that is what the car is?
Pm me, I'd love to talk about details!

I'm hoping I can get it operational. Otherwise I'll try to source all the manual ac components and convert it.

I am going to rebuild the original 440 eventually. Just found this running one that I'm going to install for now. I've got multiple other projects that are full on restorations right now. I don't wanna start another lol. I'd rather just get this one drive able for right now. And the 70 cuda belongs to my sister. Was a factory 340 automatic. Drive train was all long home do it has a 440 now. And the lower black paint is something we did. We had the bottom sandblasted and the oversprayed like crazy. We wanted to keep it kindof original but there were too many bare spots so we just taped it off and painted it.

I'm glad your keeping the original motor and planning on reuniting it with the Imp in the future. Sure would be nice to have a beautiful Imperial like that and have it drivable. Totally understand.

Thanks for the clarification on the cuda. Must be a BS code if it came with a 340. Only the 70 bh barracuda came with the lower black out like that on the M46 option. That's why it peaked my interest. That's one that I hunt for.

It's been a while since I've updated this. Life got in the way a little bit and I held off on this project for almost 6 months. I decided to just have the engine rebuilt. And I've finally saved up enough coin to make that happen. So this next week it's going into the machine shop Also scored on a few parts from a guy who is sadly going to derby this 71. A correct set of hubcaps front turn signals rear bumper markers which are far from perfect but they're better than the nothing thats on the car now Might possibly work out a deal to get the rear bumper since it's nearly flawless.

Small update. The 440 is at the machine shop. Gonna be a couple week wait until he starts on it yet. The radiator is also being redone. A local shop quoted me $550 to recore it. Picked up a better set of rotors and some functioning calipers from the 71 I posted about earlier. Currently prepping to pull the gas tank. I'd love to have this at mopars in the park in a couple months. It will be running and driving this summer. My biggest worry is the H53 system.

Small update. Got the radiator back. Thought he did a great job! Also cleaned up the calipers and splash shields to throw back on with some new inner/outer bearings.

Got the front bumper with the center drivers side swapped out. Removed all the brake lines and components. Anyone have a source for new metering valve for the front disc brakes? Also couldn't buy a new brake booster so I dropped that off to be rebuilt today. Transmission also went off to my uncle who was a transmission tech for 25 years. New lines and brake cylinders are coming this week so I hope to start that this weekend. Also the one pic is of the sentinel auto dimmer. Thought it was cool!

Such a great looking Imperial, thanks for taking the time to share!

Couldn't buy a new brake booster so I had it sent off to be rebuilt. Got that back along with a new master cylinder this week. New rear wheel cylinders installed along with all new lines throughout. Couldn't find a new proportioning valve or the front disc metering valve so I cleaned them up best I could and put them back in use. And I noticed with these new rubber lines in the front they do not enter over the top like factory. But work this way just fine. Same way they are on my 75 newport. When I completely restore this car one day I'll make them right. Bought this amazing brake flare tool kit that made all of this a breeze!! Also getting tires for the imperial tomorrow. And the engine/transmission are coming back early next week!! Midwest mopars is 1 month away. I believe this will make it!!

Got my load of parts back from the sandblaster including the wheels which I painted black. All 4 with matching 10-1 date codes. And an odd ball spare. Same month as the car was born. Also finished up plumbing new gas lines from the tank forward. Transmission is showing up tomorrow and the engine is coming back Friday. Currently rebuilding the Holley carb and getting some other engine parts painted. Won't be long before it's on the road now. Cant decide if I like the car with or without the caps.
