If you think you have a working exhaust manifold flap, you may not

Just an FYI...

I thought the flap in my exhaust manifold was working ok because the shaft moves freely and the spring is there and working. However, I dropped the exhaust last night to put a crossover pipe in and saw that the flap was half gone and what remained just spun freely on the shaft. I'm pretty indifferent to having this flap anyway, so I just ripped the rest of it out....

Mine is rattling and the spring looks broken. I need to replace my crossover pipe so thinking of just tack welding it open.

If you have access, may as well remove the flapper too lest that break loose from the shaft and start spinning like mine was.
