Just My Luck

Friend of mine got a new Focus high performance model last year. His manual transmission leaks oil and he can't even get into a dealership to have them inspect it because their service departments are all backed up doing recalls. He has had other glitches with it too in a one year period. He even called the factory and they did nothing for him except tell him to wait. Ford's last really good cars were the rwd full size cars. The electronics in the recent cars are annoying at best.

You're young yet....many C-Bodies await you in the years to come.

Who the hell talked you into one solenoid at a time? That's a lot of fluid. Reason for no dipsticks is because of the dipsticks that buy the car then take the word of Brandy working at auto zone during the day that dexron 3 is the right fluid for their Chrysler. Remove the dipstick and you remove the dipsticks warranty work.

Dave, Can you pull into a rest area, set the brakes, and please put that into English? You lost me.
Wanker... :D

Just got pulled over by a wanker County patrol right now I suppose. :laughing4:

Chrysler removed the dipsticks to prevent owners putting the wrong fluid in and cooking the trans under warranty. The Brandy at auto zone part was all picture painting. I'm stuck in line in Benwood WVa I hate coming here too hit and miss.

Seeing as you're twiddling your thumbs, let's continue the deciphering, shall we? LMAO.

No we replaced all three shift solenoids at once. GM has a problem with these on their transmissions across the board. I can't recall if the torque converter solenoid was replaced on this car. Anyways, the car has been driving fine again the past day or so we had the computer reset not that it was throwing any codes both hard or soft codes anyways. So, we'll just keep driving it. It's good news for now because the longer without a car payment.

All 3 of my vehicles get 12 mpg.

I've had several newer DC trucks. My best mpg has been 20 mpg out my 04 Ram on the highway and that driving at 62 mph on completely flat roads and no head winds. My 90 Dakota has the gotten the same on the highway with the TBI 3.9L V6, A500 trans, and 3.90.1 gears on 215/75/15 tires.

Last call for good used Marquis and Town Cars down here. The supply is drying up rapidly.
Oh, did I mention they are a good value, traditional V8 body on frame RWD proven to be a rugged and reliable full size vehicle by an American company?
What else did I forget?
I got Panther love but no money. :(

Test drove one when they came out.
I kept my Impala SS clone.

A new , er, sorry... A late model Marquis can be made to look like one and perform better than the Marauder.

I dont wanna hi-jack streetmachine's thread, and I'm not debating your observation at all, but how is this done? can you please point me to a source that describes how or shoot me a PM on how to do it?

reason i ask is because I am getting a 2008 Marquis (dont really want it but a guy owes me money and i dont wanna get all "gangsta" about it :eusa_angel:) end of this month and wanted a "cooler" daily driver come springtime.

the "look" part is relatively easy i think. the performance part was goal of my question.

Never arrive at Receiving at 11:45. You know that. :D

I got here at 10 dammit. Busy, busy, busy apparently everyone decided to send coils here today, 44,890# of titanium, how much do you think that was worth.

Anyway Brandy works at the strip club in the evening and at auto zone during the day for the health insurance, at least she is a earner.

I get 10mpg in my 98 ram what a pig. When the cab rots off the frame I'm pulling the 5.9 and the rear and go hunting a pu without spark plugs.

The best way is to Google for images of the '04 - '05 Marauder and compare them to your Marquis. You will see that the Maurader was simply a blacked out Crown Vic Interceptor. That's all it was on the outside.
The interior was a little sexier. Mechanically the 4.7 (or was it 4.9 - I forget) was the P51 CV cop engine.
There's a few Panther Forums where guys have done incredible things to the CV's, Marquis, and even Town Cars. Even swapped in 5 speed manuals. These guys are dedicated to that platform!!!
There's a member here who I really up on that stuff but I can't recall who it is. Hello out there...

Last time I posted about the Panther cars, I was given a rash of $h!t about it...hmmmm? I have two of the box cars - one '86 Country Squire wagon (mine) and my son's '85 Grand Marquis sedan. Both are terrific cars. My wagon has 77K original miles, and the Merc I got off a co-worker, with just 34K miles (his m-i-l bought in 1987 with just 5K miles!). It has 38K now and both are daily drivers. I'd love to have a Marauder or a 2008-newer car. They really are the last of the true quality rear-drivers around.

Parts are plentiful and cheap. The cars have evolved over their Methuselah-like lifespan to be close to being impossible to destroy (I'm looking at you Pakastani cab drivers), and easy to fix. Ask any dim wit in the fleet maintenance garage.
They are big and comfortable, look hot in that little black dress, and people in front of you will still get out of your way for a couple of more years.
I wish I could afford one.
