I bought my first Mopar last October (too late in the year for any car shows in MN) and now I'm signed up for my first Mopar show...

...and a real cool coincidence for me is...

Sounds like a cool show!

Have fun and post a lot of pictures!

Sweet! I'll check it out when I'm there. I should have my Polara in the show probably put it in the class cause I'm too lazy to walk from the fun field.

I take it you've been to this show before, so how many cars usually attend? I received my wrist bands and registration letter today and I'm #901 (first car registered in the C-body class).

I'd be lying if I gave you numbers, but it's a good show. Maybe around 20 C bodies, I'm guessing. I usually go Saturday, work gets in the way and I'm 2 hours away. There is always a lot of good cars on display in the few buildings they have, a good swap meet and the fun field (non judged class) has quite a few cars in no particular order. They had a chassis dyno last year and they have a burnout contest at least on Sunday, can't remember if it is on Saturday also. Supposedly the 3rd biggest Mopar car show in the US. They have tried to break the record for most new challengers the last 2-3 years.

Dont know if thats possible, a lot of the old guys that swore by their As, Bs, and Es are giving up on them and bringing the Metric Challenger to Carlisle

I have been thinking about attending this event. Can anyone tell me how it compares to the Mopar Nats in Ohio? I did find a few hotels that would fit my budget.

There is a lot less dust! And no drag racing but I think there is more cars in the judged classes and maybe more cars on display overall. And you park right there on the property, no walking down the road over the bridge.

Copied from last years promo info:

over 1,200 show cars and trucks, 500+ booths in the Swap Meet area, car corral, a huge sponsor/commercial vendors’ row, and Sunday will feature a burnout contest.

They bill it as the biggest Mopar show in the upper Midwest.

They have old race cars on display and usually have 3 or 4 drivers on hand signing autographs. It's only 3 years newer than the Nats, and has gotten better at the new location.

I did say tried. One of the years I heard they were about a dozen cars short. It was weird seeing that many new cars at a classic car show.

I agree, that section of the field looks like a Chrysler holding lot

I'll bet. I'm for ALL classic cars but I would not even move my head left or right. Right or wrong I don't see showing essentially brand new cars a thrill or looking at them either.

Weird or a complete waste of time? ;)

Todays car....
Tomorrows classic....

How many people do you think looked at all ten/ twenty Challengers at the local cruise nights in 1970/1971 ....
I know I sure as hell didn't.... They were just cars then, not classics...
I was more into my '68 BB Dart GTS... But also had a 1963 Imperial Lebaron at that time.. Blk 4dr. wht interior..

Let's give it 45 years then

Ive been to the MN show almost every year since they moved it to the Fair grounds.

I've been to Carlisle 2x (2008 and 2014) and Spring Fling (2010) in LA. There were more cars at the MN show with rain than there were at Spring fling that year.

To say the MN is like a mini-Carlisle is getting pretty accurate but FAR less walking. It is a smaller show on a smaller venue. The car count hovers around 1,000 either way depending on weather. The swap meet is decent size with usually a wide variety of vendors and parts. It's getting to the point I can't see all of the cars in two days. I'm noticing more cars from further away every year including more cars from Canada. The quality of cars is pretty high as well as the displays and access to heritage racers like Lily, Sox and Martin team/family, Vanke, Leahl and others.

It's a very well run show and worth making the drive.

I haven't taken my car since it was at the old race track. I plan to take it this year.

That depends.....maybe many. . Regardless of how many we e see on today's boards and shows it was uncommon to see a Hemi or six pack car back then. Sure they weren't flocking over to see 318 cars but I'd bet the unique stuff they were.
Todays world devalued the word Hemi , every car has one.

Some of these people around here have a Ram with a "Hemi" and think they have the same engine as a 69 RR. I just walk away without even commenting any more instead of saying "No Clyde......they didn't bring back the 426 Hemi"......
