Wouldn't want to be caught dead in that ride.

I could tweak a few things on that first hearse that would improve it. (Does a hearse really need side moldings? They don't spend much time in parking lots. Some of the hardware looks like it came from a boat or a pickup camper. Semi-gloss gray paint? Tan interior?) BUT, classing it up would be a fun project.

I can live with a final ride in a Cad/Linc, but I've already told my family if there is a single jap/germ car in the procession, I'll haunt their asses forever.

That's cool! Interestingly, it has the "waterfall" grill. I assume this was built from a station wagon, but have been told such were not on them. Chris, do you know any of the particulars of this car?

Looks like the rear doors are blanked off too.

Another for the 'Cantflip Collection".

I'll pass on this one. Thank you for remembering me though... I only ever saw one pointy nose Formal Hearse back in the 80's I had a thing for a girl who had a thing for hearses... kinda made me notice them more. That one was a nice original conversion, this one looks like someone grafted a later smaller caddy roof onto it. It also doesn't have a stretched chassis by my eye. Looks like the rear lifts like a hatchback... not what I would expect from a professional car builder in the US. Most US hearse designs had rear doors that would swing open and the back doors, possibly stretched and intact.
Still cant find a pic of the one I saw... here's next best...

Doubt it was built off a station wagon, has the rear from a standard sedan... Thus the compromised rear hatch. Also agree it's odd to blank off the rear door, that would make for some undignified stretching/sliding with a coffin.

Not a station wagon... none built with Imperial side markers...

Those are completely badass., I must've lived a very sheltered life because I've never seen a hearse that wasn't a caddy or Lincoln.. At least not that I can remember. Not stateside anyway, now when I was in the military and traveling the planet then yes I've seen other types of hearse's.

They are gorgeous for sure.

Up to the 50s you could find These Trailers with small German funeral services that could not afford custom made cars. Always planned on getting one of These, but in impeccable unrestored condition.
