Last T&C

I was able to pick up the rest of the paperwork on the car. The sales invoice and order sheet are attached. It was a lot of fun to read. Dad ordered everything he could!

That second sheet brings back memories.
I loved sitting with Dad each year, as a kid, while he ordered his two company cars.
His car, usually a C body would have lot of x’s while Mom’s car, usually an A body would have just the mandatory options per employee car program. Once in a while he’d surprise us and change Mom’s car when he got in the office. Image our surprise when he brings home a Charger S.E. instead of the Swinger we expected.

Ooh... five gallons of gas!

But seriously, though, I envy you for having that paperwork. Wish I had the same thing for mine.

Love watching the progress you're making. Props!

5 gallons was just enough to get it out of the plant, and on and off the transporter! Thanks for the props. It is going to be great when it’s done. I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I’ve been working on the body and getting the sides (behind the wood) and a couple of lower doors straight again. A big sanding block has helped! A couple of areas need some final blocking and then I’ll prep those areas for paint.

Work has been progressing, but as most of you know, you pick at one thing and eventually you have dug yourself into a deep hole! I removed the dash pad because there was a faded area. I had the color matched and dyed it back to its original color. While that was out, I figured I might as well take care of the leaking heater core (a difficult but not impossible job with ATCII). Then the 8 track didn't work, and the gauge needles had faded, and, and, and...

So... the heater core is replaced, the evaporator was tested, the box is back together and installed. All of the vacuum lines were checked and are back where they belong. The A/C system has a new expansion valve and O-rings. I replaced the 8-Track's drive belt, painted the gauge needles, cleaned everything, and used a chrome pen to restore the vents, instrument faceplate, etc. A door lock actuator was bad, so that was replaced with an NOS piece. The right side remote mirror was pitted, so I found an NOS manual mirror and swapped the mirror and cables into the housing. All of the power window switches are new. A few things need attention before I can put the interior back together but, once that's done, everything will work and I'll move on to the exterior.

This has been a fun project at times and not so fun at times (I'm looking at YOU, ATC II!!!!!). It's nice that each issue can be done in a short amount of time... and none of it is really difficult. The car should be done this summer. The car shows in Los Angeles have (mostly) been cancelled, so I'm not in a big hurry. I'm just enjoying learning new things and trying to figure out why some of the plastic items held up well, and others snap into pieces if you just look at them!

I found them at Hobby Lobby and my local hobby shop.
I’ve used chrome, white and black to touch up small details on dash often.

I've been busy. Everything works, except for a short in the tailgate lock wiring. The driver side windows don't work, but it's probably due to the dried up grease. I'll get started on the last of the electrical gremlins and I'm looking forward to finishing it.

It has been a busy summer. I repaired the dents and dings, repainted the sides, and have spent a few days installing the NOS Di-Noc wood. I have a long way to go, but I’m seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.

Yes. Spinnaker white. Most of the paint is still original. I just took care of the panels that had damage and were behind the wood. Thanks!

Where did you find enough NOS correct woodgrain? I tried to find some for my 1969 T&C and came up with only one roll and it wasn't cheap!

Beautiful work!!

It sounds like you are in the Los Angeles area, so I am hoping to see your wagon in the not too distant future down here!
