How can I tell if the original thermoquad on the 440 of my 77 New Yorker Brougham has the vacuum advance port that would be needed with an electronic ignition conversion kit?

The carb should have both ported and full manifold vacuum ports. ported is a vacuum source above the throttle plates, depending on how much timing you have set you may want to use a ported source for your vacuum advance

On the front of the carb just to the right of the drivers side idle mixture screw.

Thank-you Mr. C. The diagram was very helpful. I guess the carburetor will have to go as it has no vacuum advance port.

The carb can still be used even if it does not have the port in the diagram, ck for full vacuum at idle or vacuum only when the throttle opens(ported). I thought the lean burn computer had a vacuum pod on the side of it? I am not sure about 77 but I know later models had it

I have a few carbs if you want a rebuilder. PM me if interested

They are move freely not sticking at all

Now's the time to shamelessly pounce on you to try and sell you my beautiful rebuilt TQ that's for sale but in all honesty, for the money, after I kept resisting member Bob's mandate to just throw on an Edelbrock and be done with it, the Eddie was the only solution that worked out of the box. I got a like new TQ for ya but go with the Eddie.

The vacuum line from the lean burn computer connects to the bottom of the air cleaner housing. I don't have a vacuum gauge but that seems to be different than a carburetor's vacuum advance port.

Are there 2 hoses under the air cleaner? One should be a vacuum source. If only one hose it's not going to do anything. Probably connected to a thermal vacuum switch, one hose vacuum the other goes to the advance
